@Traewithit @Ralph_MasonJr Bad news is he's only taken 6 corner 3s in the G and thats the shot he needs to make. Good news is that he's shooting a high % on ALL his 3s and 67% are assisted which are what he would be mostly getting.

@PaulHeadleyNBA I wonder where this ranks all time for a top 4. Zero drop off. Haven’t really seen a segment around it. And no offense to Cade but a peak Giannis season woulda made this a complete top 5.

It’s a shame they didn’t show this earlier in the season to warrant getting at least one quality depth piece. They prolly need 2 but 1 woulda given them some type of chance at the title. The starters are playing about as well as they possibly can.

Seeing LeBron do what he did as essentially as a super role player made me imagine a world where the greats like he, Steph, KD etc just take the old retired HOF pitcher route like Clemens where when they get to be in their 40s they just join a team after March 1st 😂.

@PaulHeadleyNBA Last thing, now that he’s officially in super role player mode it’s crazy to think how long he could do this when you look at rockets and see how valuable it is to have a release valve who can punish 4 on 3s. Could play almost forever if he could sit first 50 games lol

@PaulHeadleyNBA Grew up MJ fan and literally don’t care who someone picks. Here’s I usually go to reach team ceiling: Bad team: LeBron Good team: LeBron Great team: MJ 7 game: either First 43 minutes: either Final 5 minutes: MJ Last Shot: Easily MJ Need a stop: LeBron Woulda been great together.

LeBron had so many dunks tonight. It’s a big reason why he’s still so fun to watch. Always has been.

@brosales12 Exactly the type of guy you wish the rest of the roster was filled with. Ideally you want him on team next year as a depth piece.

@_JasonLT I agree with the refs having leeway to determine what a non basketball move is but disagree that the refs should call a foul. They just shouldnt call anything and let the play continue as is. That would stop it just the same. Thats effectively what happens in the playoffs.

@damanr Ive never seen Rui run so hard in a game. As for LeBron, either drop his minutes to 30 a game if you expect that energy in regular season or be okay with low energy now & high energy in playoffs. I personally like 30 minutes. He’ll dial it up in the playoffs (or when others do).

TLDR: Are the Lakers better without LeBron James? In the context of the game today, possibly, but not definitively. There is an obvious narrative about the Lakers win today that’ll be a segment on every show regarding how the Lakers looked today without LeBron James, and it’s more interesting to view the context in which that may be true. The Pacers showed last year that the playoff axiom about the game slowing down and grinding to a halt might not be true, in fact the Pacers also kept their expanded rotation to keep their pace elevated, another playoff “law” that was violated. The game is fast now, more athletic, and you look at teams like the Suns who got worse on paper talent wise, but because they got younger and more athletic, they are having better seasons. Even the Celtics, who beyond the Tatum injury were seen as downgraded their talent, have looked better because they got younger and faster, while also shedding salary. This version of the Lakers today without LeBron was quicker, more agile, “better” — can LeBron and the Lakers find a way to utilize him that can keep the elements that worked today? I still think yes, and I will continue to stubbornly hold on to that. Maybe it results shorter shifts, less minutes, but I think the Lakers need to use today’s game as their North Star and orient all their lineup decisions and minute allocations to achieve that. It’s damn unfortunate that the runway to the playoffs is so short, but the formula is possibly here.
