To move forward, we must shift decisively from commitment to action by anchoring our plans in dedicated budgets, measurable indicators, and real accountability mechanisms. This means securing direct funding for #grassroots women's organizations, broadening our coalition to include men, youth, and intergenerational transmission of knowledge, and establishing regular regional coordination platforms to break out of isolated initiatives. Our recommendations will now feed into the African Union's continental study on the Women, Peace and Security agenda. 📌Yaounde, 🇨🇲, Regional Consultation on the Women, Peace and Security agenda in Central Africa Over two days, we took stock of 25 years of #UNSCR1325 implementation and confirmed that while strong normative frameworks are in place, women's participation remains far too often consultative rather than decision-making. Our discussions identified several structural #GoodPractices that are already delivering results, including institutional anchoring with gender quotas, strategic advocacy built on civil society–State synergies, digital and media mobilization to counter hate speech, holistic approaches that embrace positive masculinity, disability inclusion, and the socio-economic reintegration of GBV survivors, as well as proximity mechanisms such as community early warning systems and electoral mentorship.
