This morning, I had the pleasure of speaking with @NATO SecGen @jensstoltenberg ahead of the 6/1 NATO Defense Ministerial. We discussed a number of issues related to NATO deterrence and defense posture, investing in defense capabilities, and improving Alliance readiness.

U.S. Forces conducted a precision strike this evening, destroying additional rockets aimed at the airfield.

"A return to violence would be one senseless & tragic. But make no mistake, we have the military means to respond forcefully to any type of attacks against the coalition and the military means to support the Afg security forces. That would be a mistake to move in that direction."

Kandahar Airfield received ineffective indirect fire this afternoon; no injury to personnel or damage to equipment.  Gen Miller has been clear about the Coalition's intent to protect the force.

Two @usairforce B-52H aircraft from @TeamMinot, arrived at Al Udeid Air Base, Qatar. The bombers are deployed to the @CENTCOM region to protect U.S. and coalition forces as they conduct drawdown operations from Afghanistan. afcent.af.mil/News/Article/2…

GEN Miller & BG Vergori met w/Herat PGOV Qattali, MG Arghandiwal & Col Sepah on Saturday to assess the security in Herat and across the 207th Corps. GEN Miller praised the integration of the security pillars and reaffirmed #NATO support.

Today Gen Miller and Army Chief of General Staff Gen Yasin Zia travelled to Kandahar where they met w/ Provincial govt & security leaders to increase coordination across #ANDSF elements in the region. Gen Miller reaffirmed Resolute Support's "commitment remains sound and strong"
