By the way: I'm never going to spell Turkey as "Türkiye" unless I'm writing in Turkish.
I don't write "Deutschland" or "中国" or "ایران" or "Magyarország."
Turkey is Turkey.
@CT9397@MaxNordau Türkiye made an official appeal to the United Nations, NATO, and the European Union for the correct use of the name 'Türkiye'. This appeal was accepted. Do not cite other countries as examples; they are satisfied with their names.
@UmutBehram@MaxNordau If you don't understand why many countries in foreign languages don't exactly match the name those countries give themselves, you are stupid.
In Turkish, is every name of every country pronounced and spelled the way the natives pronounce and spell it?
@mzz_zzm51522@MaxNordau We grew up reading Stefan Zweig, Kafka, Freud, and Marcel Proust... We don't hate Jews, we are not antisemitic. Of course, there are anti-Jewish people in Türkiye but they are not the majority.
@mzz_zzm51522@MaxNordau I can live with Israelis in Tel Aviv. But as a Turk, I cannot live in Tahran under the mullah regime. You are way behind the times, my friend; you have inflicted too much suffering on the secular Iranian people.
@UmutBehram@MaxNordau At least the Ottoman Spirit is still alive in Iran. U worthless rats sold ur ass and want to be accepted by europens lmao, crying about if it's Turkey or turkiye. If Mehmet was here the heads of you rats would have been rolling.
@mzz_zzm51522@MaxNordau Iran has a murderous mullah regime. This regime supports Islamist terrorists in many countries. This anachronistic, murderous regime must end.
@UmutBehram@MaxNordau Who are you calling murderous mullahs? u living like a Bulgarian and calling yourself a turk is thanks to the mullahs. So be quiet and know ur place and thats under the feet of israel and America.
@mzz_zzm51522@MaxNordau Being a Bulgarian farmer wouldn't bother me, but I'm Turkish. It's true, the real Turks are in Central Asia, but why does that matter? We're not in a competition to see who is more Turkish.
@mzz_zzm51522@MaxNordau I can argue with Americans and Israeli citizens, but I do not support the murderous mullah regime in Iran in this war. Most Turks do not support it either.
@KileyaVero39128@IRanMediaco At least half of Turks do not support Iran and the mullah regime. Those who do support it are the Islamist and conservative segments, and a very small number of leftists support it with anti-imperialist rhetoric.
This is significant. Turkey and Iran have had a complicated relationship for decades but when a regional neighbor is being bombed, solidarity kicks in. Turkey is a NATO member showing support for a country being attacked by a NATO ally. That tension says everything about how fractured alliances are becoming in this conflict. Erdogan is walking a very thin line right now between his Western commitments and regional solidarity.
Fenerbahçe bir kere daha hakemler tarafından yarışta tutuldu. İşler artık utanmazlık boyutunu da aştı. Böyle lig olmaz, böyle aleni yapılmaz yapılmaz şike ve kollama.
@NisimLevi@MaxNordau I truly do not care what you say. You can write 'Turkey' across the mountains and rocks, or organize a campaign claiming the name of this country is 'Turkey.' I was simply stating the truth. I'm tired of this argument.
@UmutBehram@MaxNordau 1. Turkey was always Türkiye locally, now you are simply forcing your local name on others.
2. Nobody that is not Turkish can pronounce Türkiye.
3. The result is that people keep on calling it Turkey because that's the version they can pronounce.
@XManyrivers2@MaxNordau Okay, I can think about that a bit, because I don't want to give people that impression. But I think you should think about this conversation a bit too.
@UmutBehram@MaxNordau I tend to think he’s being a bit of a Nazi. If you want nations to speak freely you might try being a little less controlling about how people express themselves
@Upplyser@MaxNordau My brother also spent 10 years in Paris and graduated from Sorbonne University. We are very fond of the French. Personally, I am a great admirer of Baudelaire and Marcel Proust. I know and appreciate many more, but those two are my absolute favorites.
@UmutBehram@MaxNordau I will not ignore it, I will say Türkiye, but I find it overly sensitive to react on this, I can’t understand why it’s an issue at all, it is a childish reaktion. By the way, I only have good memories of Türkiye, I’ve traveled there a lot and I met my French wife there.
