This week we had the XMapTools course at the University of Brasília! It was a great time and I'm always happy to discuss petrology using @XMapTools and I'm already looking forward to the next one at @ufmg in 2024 🤍

I have published the first tutorial for XMapTools 4.1 on the resources website resources.xmaptools.ch/tutorial-epma-… It will guide you through the classification, standardization and visualisation of EPMA data using maps from Duesterhoeft & Lanari (2021), JMG 38, 527-55 @XMapTools #tutorial

Playing in @XMapTools with a favourite sample on #ThinSectionThursday. Looking at the quant EDS data, importing into XMT and then calculating mineral formula. Last map is the plag An component, with alternate comps & zoning when included in garnet!🤩 #geology #rocks #ZeissNatRes

@glgysteve @thegeojesse This is true, but the scale bar is no longer expressed in pixels in XMapTools 4. We haven’t implemented the old export function because it is not compatible with the new engine that generates images (single- or multi-maps). Do not hesitate to report issues to @PierreLanari
English

@thegeojesse @XMapTools This might sound like a really basic operation, but how do you get a nice scale bar in @XMapTools like you have here? The one in v4 beta 2 is horrible to look at (Project & Imp tab), and you literally need to restart the project if you make an adjustment to it
English

XMapTools 4 beta 2 is available for download! This version includes new functionalities and several improvements to stability and compatibility. xmaptools.ch/release-4-beta… Download: xmaptools.ch or github.com/xmaptools/XMap…

These X-ray maps show an interesting feature: symplectites around garnet, formed of plagioclase (XAn = 99) and white mica. Have you ever seen such a mineral assemblage for symplectites? The maps were obtained with EPMA and explored with @XMapTools.

Garnets also show compositional zoning, like this one right here of a nice spiral-like garnet from a metapelite.

This week @GeoDrB 🎙has been cooking some UHT chats 🔥🔥with @petrochronics member @MahyraT chatting about her research, her love for #minerals such as this beauty, and teaching amazing tools such as @XMapTools to her students🤩

Things heat up a bit in the latest episode of #GneissChats. Me and @silvia_volante talked with Prof. Mahyra Tedeschi about UHT metamorphism. We also mapped the inside of her mind🧠w/ a fun game of Mind Speleology Listen now on all podcast platforms or 🎧 travelinggeologist.com/podcast/uht/

@thegeojesse @ElizabethCatlos @txgeosciences @MSG_1981 @MicroscopyTexas @MinSocAm @UMassGeo @XMapTools You know, I've been meaning to play around with XMapTools for a while now, and this was the perfect excuse to start. I'm inclined to agree that the subtle Ca zonation near the edges is much more visible! The bright inclusions sort of vanish, but they aren't the point.

@fcrameri @PierreLanari @RibeiroBrunov @FabianWadsworth @petrochronics All color palettes from @fcrameri are implemented! It’s great to have more scientific color maps in #XMapTools. It will soon be in the official package; for now you can get them here: xmaptools.com/additional-too…
English

@PierreLanari @RibeiroBrunov @FabianWadsworth @XMapTools @petrochronics @RibeiroBrunov, let us know, if it worked with one of the provided Scientific colour map formats.

This is a stunning image @thegeojesse. Mapping over large areas is a must for such samples 😉
