(Yes this was a thing) Victorian elites developed an obsession with ancient Egypt to the point where actual Egyptian mummies were imported and unwrapped at elite social gatherings for entertainment. Some mummy remains were even ground into “medicinal” powders and used in paint pigments. There was literally a paint pigment in Victorian England called Mummy Brown that came from ground up ancient Egyptians!
