Today l was honoured to have been invited to attend the French and Francophone Songs Contest held at a local school in Harare, where I witnessed the remarkable talent of our young people. Through culture and the arts, we continue to strengthen unity, education, and international friendship for the benefit of our youth. Such platforms are vital in nurturing confidence, discipline, and global citizenship among learners. We remain committed to advancing cultural exchange and empowering the next generation to thrive in a connected world.

I visited Chikurubi Maximum Prison where I met Anymore Zvitsva following the horrific murders that left many families in Guruve traumatised and communities shaken. Listening to his confession was deeply disturbing, but it was important for me to understand how such violence could emerge within our society. My thoughts remain with the bereaved families who continue to carry the pain of losing their loved ones. No words can erase that grief. As a nation, we must strengthen our values, protect our communities and support those affected by such tragedies. I pray for healing for the families and peace for the communities still struggling to come to terms with these painful events.

I recently visited Chief Seke’s homestead through my nationwide engaging Chiefs Dare initiative, where multitudes of our people gathered in the spirit of dialogue, unity and healing. The programme helps our communities understand how traditional cases are handled while reconnecting with our rich traditional justice system. During the sitting, cases such as divorce, family disputes, inheritance, kuromba (occult rituals), witchcraft, wizardy, child marriages, and land conflicts, including the illegal selling of communal land in peri-urban areas, were heard. I continue to urge our communities to value traditional justice alongside the modern courts, as some matters like Ngozi require both legal and cultural resolution. I commend our traditional leaders for preserving our culture and promoting peace in our communities.

This Evening , I visited the family of the late Permanent Secretary for Harare Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Cde Cosmas Chiringa, to convey my heartfelt condolences. He was a humble, dedicated, and wise servant of our nation, committed to his work and the people he served. My thoughts are with his wife, children, and grandchildren during this difficult time. I feel this loss deeply and pray that the family remains united, strong, and prayerful. May his memory inspire us all to serve with kindness, humility, and dedication.

I was honoured to meet with the World Food Programme Zimbabwe delegation led by Country Director Ms Barbara Clemens to discuss a Youth Empowerment Leadership Programme. The enthusiasm and dedication of these young leaders are truly inspiring. I reaffirm my commitment to supporting initiatives that provide practical experience and open doors for our youth across agriculture, tourism, culture, and education. We explored meaningful collaborations that will strengthen communities and empower young people to reach their full potential. I encourage them to actively engage with my office and participate in programs that uplift their peers. Initiatives like these guide our youth towards productive pursuits while preserving Zimbabwe’s rich heritage. I look forward to nurturing this partnership and witnessing the remarkable contributions our young people will make to the nation’s sustainable development.

Yesterday, I had the honour of joining global partners at the International Cancer Dialogue to advocate for compassionate access to essential medicines, especially for children and vulnerable patients in need of pain relief and palliative care. As Health and Child Care Ambassador and Patron of the Cancer Taskforce, I continue to complement Government efforts through outreach and support, because no patient should endure unnecessary suffering due to lack of care. Through cooperation and compassion, we can build a world that truly cares, ensuring dignity, relief, and hope for all.

During this Women’s Month, I warmly welcomed female councillors from across Zimbabwe’s political divide at my Zimbabwe House offices, who donated cooking equipment and utensils to support the work I do at my care homes. I am grateful for this spirit of unity and kindness under the theme “Give to Gain,” which continues to uplift vulnerable members of our communities. Their gesture reminds us that when women come together to serve others, we strengthen our communities and bring hope to those in need. Together, we complement each other in caring for the most vulnerable.

This International Women’s Day, I join the world in celebrating the courage, resilience, and talents of women and girls under the theme #GiveToGain. Acts of selflessness, compassion, and service have the power to transform lives and strengthen our nation. Through the Angel of Hope Foundation, I remain committed to supporting the most vulnerable, particularly women and girls in Zimbabwe, through health, education, and empowerment initiatives. Every small act of giving matters. In giving, we gain dignity, unity, and hope for a stronger, brighter future for all.

Today, I was honoured to officiate at the opening of the new SPAR Mazoe supermarket. I am delighted to see a modern store that brings convenience to families, creates employment opportunities, and supports our local farmers, small businesses, and entrepreneurs by sourcing their products. Every investment in our communities is an investment in Zimbabwe. Together, we are building stronger, thriving communities and advancing the growth of our nation.

Yesterday, I visited a courageous family in Epworth, where four devoted sisters care for nine children living with cerebral palsy. One sister has three children with disabilities, and the other three sisters each have two, some as old as 22. For years, they carried these children on their backs, facing immense challenges with very little support. When they reached out for help, my heart as a mother was deeply moved. I brought wheelchairs for all nine children, along with blankets and groceries, to ease their daily struggle. These children are a blessing, and every child deserves love, hope, and dignity. May we, as a nation, continue to uplift and support one another with compassion and care.

Yesterday, I joined the global community in commemorating World Wildlife Day and Africa Environment Day (Wangari Maathai Day), taking the opportunity to unveil key wildlife strategies in my capacity as Zimbabwe’s Wildlife Ambassador and Environment Patron. This year, the theme “ Medicinal and Aromatic Plants: Conserving Health, Heritage and Livelihoods," underscores the vital connection between our natural heritage, indigenous knowledge, and the well-being of our communities. Our wildlife, environment, and people are inextricably linked. In this spirit of celebration, I call upon all Zimbabweans to safeguard our rich heritage of medicinal and aromatic plants, while intensifying efforts to conserve our wildlife. I further urge universities, research institutions, and local communities to promote biosafety, validate traditional remedies, and establish herbal gardens to alleviate pressure on wild plant populations. By integrating traditional knowledge with modern conservation practices, we can safeguard our health, honour our heritage, and sustain livelihoods for both present and future generations.

Yesterday, I had the pleasure of visiting Hatcliffe to support the newly launched Toddlers Warm Bowl Project, an initiative focused on providing nutritious porridge to children during their crucial stages of growth and development. Many mothers came with their little ones to receive wholesome, health-approved porridge. I took time to prepare and serve the meal myself, while also guiding the mothers on how they can easily make it at home. Every child deserves a healthy start in life. This project not only lightens the load for families but also strengthens the spirit of our community. Together, we are building a brighter future one child at a time. I always value spending time with women, as they are very active and highly participative in our programmes, and their energy continues to strengthen the impact of our work. As a mother, I also shared food hampers with the families in attendance, as a complementary gesture to further support household food security within the community.

Today at the Angel of Hope Drug Rehabilitation Centre, I witnessed our sixth intake as families arrived carrying deep pain, yet holding firmly onto hope and determination to overcome the burden of addiction. I spent time engaging parents and guardians, listening to their heartfelt stories, offering comfort and encouragement, and reaffirming my unwavering commitment to walk this journey with them in compassion, love and selflessness. No family should feel alone in this struggle. I am grateful to our dedicated team and I sincerely thank our local and international partners whose continued support sustains this important work. Your generosity is helping us restore dignity, rebuild families and transform lives. Many of our children who once felt lost and hopeless have already rediscovered purpose, discipline and confidence through this programme. The road to recovery is not easy, but I stand firmly with these families. Together, with unity, faith and resilience, we will prevail.

Yesterday, I had the joy of joining thousands of learners from all 10 provinces, including those with special needs, for a Careers Day with the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education and Nyaradzo Group, alongside several dedicated resource persons who shared their knowledge and guidance. To all our young people: education is a journey of self-discovery. Dream big, work hard, and embrace your unique talents. Your future begins with the steps you take today! Always stay away from drugs and substance abuse, and value learning. It is the foundation for a bright and successful future. As Environment Patron, I was also delighted to plant an orange tree, contributing to greener communities and improved food security for all.

Yesterday, I visited Chivi in Masvingo Province, joining multitudes of community members and schoolchildren in our nationwide tree-planting initiative. It was inspiring to see their enthusiasm for environmental stewardship and commitment to our nation’s future. We planted indigenous trees, including muuyu, mupfura, and munyii, to protect species suited to our land and heritage. As we work towards a greener Zimbabwe, the protection of our forests remains a shared duty. In a complementary gesture, I also distributed baby care kits to expecting mothers and food hampers to vulnerable households, reaffirming our commitment to leaving no one behind.

Yesterday I was in Mashonaland Central Province, where I stood with the people of Guruve in mourning following the tragic killing of 25 people in the area. The suspect has since been apprehended. I conveyed my condolences and reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to justice and the safety of all citizens. I also joined the community in a tree-planting initiative led by our children, fostering environmental stewardship from a young age. Caring for our environment and standing with our communities is a shared responsibility. I further held a frank discussion with the community as we explored ways to address the challenge of child marriages in the province. It is everyone’s responsibility to ensure that our children are protected and safe. In addition, I supported vulnerable families through the distribution of food hampers and commissioned a solar-powered borehole for a local school in Guruve, which will also benefit the wider community.

I extended the nationwide tree-planting programme to Bulawayo Metropolitan Province at Centenary Park in the beautiful City of Kings and Queens. I urge all Zimbabweans to actively care for our environment. Trees are vital for our livelihoods, our towns and cities, and the well-being of future generations. Let us continue safeguarding our forests and uplifting our communities. Every tree we plant is a step toward a healthier environment and a stronger, more united Zimbabwe. I was also delighted to distribute groceries and mealie-meal to vulnerable members of our community in Bulawayo and the Matabeleland North and South provinces, helping to ease their daily needs and support their families.

I am delighted to celebrate the 5th intake of graduates from the Angel of Hope Drug Rehabilitation Centre as they embark on vocational training. Their courage, discipline, and renewed dreams inspire us all. With every skill they acquire, they shape a brighter future for themselves, their communities, and our nation. May their journeys continue to reflect resilience, hope, and the transformative power of second chances. Together, we rise stronger and united in building a drug-free Zimbabwe.
