A First Bank employee named Tijani Muiz Adeyinka worked on the electronic products team. His job gave him legitimate access to process reversals for customers. He used that access to credit merchant accounts with money that was not theirs. The fraudulent postings went to his wife's Zenith Bank account first. From there to 34 other accounts. Which then spread to 1,190 secondary accounts across multiple banks. By the time First Bank noticed and reported it to the Nigeria Police Force on March 25, 2024...the figure had grown from ₦12 billion to ₦40 billion. He was already on the run. Three court orders across Lagos and Jalingo were obtained to freeze accounts. Some of the money had already been converted to USDT through crypto traders. This is what insider fraud actually looks like in Nigerian banking. Not a dramatic hack. A staff member. A privileged function. No second authorization required. If your system allows any single person to trigger financial transactions without a second approval layer that is your vulnerability. Segregation of duties is not bureaucracy. It is what stands between your system and ₦40 billion walking out the door.

@tosinolaseinde One solution to this is to entrust waste management and sanitation to local governments. LGAs should be able to sanction markets, parks or residential areas that don’t take waste management seriously.

🚨 Reports claim a U.S. F-15 has been downed over Iran. 2 things you can count on: - Our pilots will NEVER be left behind - Those responsible will be killed Pete Hegseth: If you kill Americans, we will hunt you down without apology, without hesitation, and we will kill you.

I just spoke briefly with President Trump. He declined to discuss any details of the ongoing, intensive search for the missing pilot in Iran. I asked if today's events would affect negotiations with Iran: “No, not at all. No, it’s war. We’re in war, Garrett.” nbcnews.com/world/iran/liv…

Today, I visited the newly constructed Tolu Schools Complex to assess progress ahead of its commissioning. This complex brings together 36 schools across primary, junior, and senior secondary levels, spread over 11.7 hectares. It is set to serve over 20,000 students and stands as the largest school community in Africa, with well-equipped classrooms, football fields, basketball courts and other modern facilities. Education remains central to our vision for Lagos and we will continue to ensure every child has access to a quality learning environment. I appreciate the warm reception from residents and the students I met. Your support encourages us to keep going and we remain committed to serving you.

I don’t like doing this, but I’ve always heard about big accounts gatekeeping, and today, I experienced it firsthand. Earlier today, I shoot my shot at @victorosimhen9 by tagging him purely out of admiration for how he represents the Nigerian flag. I asked him for a Galatasaray jersey and pitched @abazwhyllzz as the vendor, as one of the big and reputable accounts selling jerseys here ❤️ He responded and promised me a signed Champions League jersey 🙏🔥. He also said he will get 15 additional jerseys from Abazz for me to share. Now here’s where things got interesting. I reached out to Abazz via DM and, to my surprise, he said he had already selected winners on his page, which was obviously not true. I asked why he would do that when he was meant to be the vendor. I then messaged @Thetifefab, who told me to discuss with Abazz and he handled the payment for the jerseys (Abazz confirmed receiving payment for the 15 jerseys). Upon receiving the money for the jerseys, Abazz asked that we move the conversation to WhatsApp, and I assumed it was to discuss delivery. Instead, Abazz called me and kept on insisting he will be the one to share the jerseys, which I didn’t agree to. After further discussion, he proposed a split, he takes 8, I take 7. I declined and ended the call. He kept calling, but I insisted we continue via chat instead. I reiterated that I was the one who tagged Osimhen, he responded to my tweet, and Abazz only came into the picture because I tagged him as the vendor, and he has already been paid for the jerseys. Attached to this tweet is evidence of our conversations via X DMs and WhatsApp. I’m not here to cause drama, just asking for transparency and fairness, not only for myself but for everyone who participated in good faith 💯 Let’s do right by the people who showed up for this 🙌🔥

@ganiyuobasa2025 Mr Chairman, how much is being spent on producing these cards sir? In the interest of transparency, can Agege residents know please?

Following feedback from well-meaning Nigerians…. and others, we have reviewed the structure of the Agege Residents Card. Concerns were raised about the use of colour categories (particularly the words “Poor and Vulnerable” on the card) and we have listened. In response, the card will now adopt a single, unified design for all residents, while still maintaining its core purpose: proper identification, improved data, and easier access to welfare programmes, healthcare support, and other community benefits. The goal remains clear: to serve with dignity, fairness, and inclusion, while ensuring that support gets to those who need it most. We will always listen, and we will always refine our approach in the interest of our people. I love you all. #agege #avo #avoisworking #anewagegeisrising

Introducing the Agege Residents Card : A structured approach to better serve our people and deliver targeted impact. This initiative is designed to identify and register actual residents of Agege, ensuring that government interventions reach those they are meant for. With a clear classification system: 🔴 Red: Persons with disabilities 🟡 Yellow: Poor and vulnerable 🔵 Blue: General residents We are able to differentiate beneficiaries, improve planning, and deliver more effective economic empowerment programmes. The Residents Card will also provide access to welfare support, health services, drug relief funding, and other community benefits, while strengthening our data systems for better decision-making. Looking ahead, it will support initiatives like subsidised green transportation on key routes, ensuring inclusive and affordable mobility for our people. This is about structure, accountability, and making sure no one who truly needs support is left behind. #agege #avo #avoisworking #anewagegeisrising

Honestly, I don’t think it’s the same thing. Lagos State already has a working database, that’s exactly what LASRRA is built on. So instead of starting from scratch, Agege can simply collaborate with the state and pull the data of residents who already fall within the LGA. It’s really not that complicated. If anything, they could just use existing LASRRA records or cards and build on that, rather than creating a whole new system. It’s like when you apply for an international passport, you simply put your NIN in the system and it recognizes it. The idea itself is not bad, but at this point it feels unnecessary and it’s likely gonna be very expensive. We haven’t heard clearly how much this project will cost. It just makes more sense to leverage what already exists and redirect those funds toward more urgent needs in the community.

@_LiveAndHope @ganiyuobasa2025 Just like it’s difficult for you to use your ATM card to vote, the problem is Nigeria doesn’t have a valid central data system where you can access necessary information. Buy a car and you’ll see the nonsense documentation, same with buying a house, etc.

This is great, and I honestly like the vision behind it. But wouldn’t it be more efficient to build on LASRRA and create an Agege-specific database from it? Cowry cards already exist for transport payments, and if the goal is to restrict benefits to Agege residents, the system can simply be designed to recognize only LASRRA ID numbers linked to Agege. For payments of goods, maybe a partnership with an indigenous company like Moniepoint would be better? They can open bank accounts and distribute debit cards to residents and it would help bring more people like market women, bus drivers, etc. into the banking system, and reduce their heavy reliance on cash. Im looking at it from the angle of duplication and long-term scalability because we know that Lagos State has already invested a lot over the years, in harmonizing residents’ data, and if each LGA starts building its own parallel system, we might just end up with fragmentation instead of a unified structure. Also, for transparency, Mr Chairman, it would be great for residents to know the cost of producing these cards and which company will be handling the database 🙏🏾🙏🏾

Thank you The card is not just an ID card , it serves as an identity card , makes our residents have access to all of the welfare packages that we create for them , the cards can be used for payments. It stops residents of other local government to enjoy the discounted rates for our services . It can also be used for data collection and analysis It will serve as a community security data base . We have a transportation system designed to kick off in June and the card will also be used for payments. America , UK have benefit cards that citizens use to have access to certain things Lassra cards are not payments cards , they can’t share data with us. We have done so far in 7 months 17 schools blocks done so far . 12 roads , 5 rehabilitated , 5 major drainages 600 street lights Gardens getting created 10 health booths Skill acquisitions center’s Human capital development programs What’s all of this without data ?
