Oga please, keep to your word. You can’t spend years publicly attacking a man and his administration, calling them all sorts of names, and the moment you switch sides and get a government appointment, you suddenly expect nobody to bring up your own words. That’s not how accountability works. You said the interview would cover security, the economy, and corruption. So how exactly do you expect to discuss those issues without your past statements about the same government being questioned? Your past narrative is literally part of the conversation. Calling it “opposition research-style journalism” is just a fancy way of saying you were confronted with your own receipts and couldn’t comfortably defend them. If your position has changed, then own it. Explain it. Stand on it. But don’t come back writing long press statements complaining that your past was mentioned. Your past is exactly why people are questioning your present. You can’t rewrite history just because you now sit at the table you once spent years attacking.

PRESS STATEMENT In the last 24 hours, social media has exploded over my interview with Mehdi Hassan, albeit with varied opinions. Let me set the record straight. When I signed on to the privileged job granted to me by Mr. President, I was well aware of its implications. Selling ice cream, looking fine, and seeking the praises of men were never part of it. Some of the fiercest critics of my interview can not even stand local TV anchors. But the task of promoting and defending the President and his administration is what I do with ease and joy. I am prepared to appear before any interviewer, anywhere in the world, any day and at any time, to defend this government and its policies. I have never, and will never, subscribe to ducking or dodging interviews on matters that concern promoting and defending the administration I was appointed to serve. It is the least of what is required of me. Head to Head contacted me requesting an interview, stating that they wanted to challenge our government on security, the economy, and corruption. Nowhere in our almost six months of communication did they mention that they were going to challenge my past. If that had been their plan, ethically and professionally, they were supposed to inform me so I could prepare my response. But that’s okay, ethically, that is on them, not on me. I refused to swallow the pill of Mehdi’s “opposition research-style journalism,” and even today, if you carefully compare what he read as quotes from organisations and groups, you will see that many were inaccurate and some were outright fake news. But I will leave that for another day. As for what I said about President Tinubu in the past, I am glad those were things I said when I was in the opposition saddle with such zeal. It is all politics. Half of Donald Trump’s cabinet is made up of people who once spoke against him, and quite a number of people in our own cabinet also spoke against President Tinubu in the past. Those things do not bother him if you care to know. The majority of the naysayers are members of the opposition and their sympathisers. It does not bother me one bit. Their temporary excitement over the interview has not lasted and will not last, because it does not take away their obvious problem of lack of vision, mission in conducting and managing a political party; yet they seek to manage Nigeria. Clearly they have no path to victory and no alternative policies or program for the Nigerian people. And if they say they do, they can as well go to head to head and be interrogated on that; as the saying in Hausa goes “Ga fili Ga doki” I conclude by thanking the many Nigerians and non-Nigerians who sent in their commendations over my brave defence of our government in an interview where the anchor would hardly let you answer a question unless it suited his narrative. I still have admiration and respect for Mehdi Hassan as arguably the best debater on the planet. I look forward to part two of the Head to Head interview, and I am glad that by then questions about my past will no longer be news so that we can focus on our administration’s policies, programs and what we have achieved so far. Stay tuned. – D.H Bwala Special Adviser to President on Media and Policy Communication (State House) Saturday March 7, 2026

I sincerely thank President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, for my ambassadorial posting. This is a man with a heart of gold, and as I have previously said, the President is a most Christlike individual, with the capacity to forgive and forbear. Nigeria could not have had a better leader for the present time and for the next five years, by the grace of God. I accept this appointment and posting to the glory of God and for the betterment of Nigeria, even as I pledge my unalloyed loyalty to the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the custodian of the Constitution and the Head of State of Nigeria. I once again thank my foster parents, Esijolomi and Omerewumi, who moulded me, as a piece of clay they received from God, into what I am today. Other than God, NO OTHER HUMAN BEINGS have been more responsible for making me into what I am today than these two angels, who in my mother tongue are referred to as my Olayemi. I thank my biological parents, both of whom are now deceased, Bemigho and Ochuko, through whom I came into this world. Even in death, I love you both. I thank my wife, Hana, who has filled me with such peace of mind since I met her, and has been an encourager and nurturer. May God bless my friend who sticks closer than a brother, Malam Nuhu Ribadu. Although I have said this publicly before, let me repeat it today. This is not hyperbole to me. If it were possible for all the goodness on Earth to be domiciled in a single human being, that person would be Malam. He is blind to religion, region, communion and ethnicity—a credit to Nigeria and humanity. Through him, God made it possible for me to be a Presidential spokesman. And today, without saying much, what I have left unsaid says it all. It is most fitting that this posting to the United Mexican States comes as I begin the six-day climb to Mount Kilimanjaro to hoist Nigeria's flag on the summit of Africa's highest mountain. As I take each step, I am reminded of how God, in His infinite mercies, has used President Bola Tinubu to reposition Nigeria for greatness, such that in 2025, as recently revealed by both the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund, Nigeria, a country with just 2% of the world's population, was the sixth greatest contributor to global GDP. Nigeria is rising under the present administration, as demonstrated by the hosting of the largest single tourist event in Africa in 2025, Detty December, which attracted 1.2 million tourists to Nigeria in December 2025 alone, without a single death, robbery, or domestic incident. A sign that, though we may have localised challenges, Nigeria is a safe and secure destination for your holiday and investments, as well as a politically stable nation, and the only country in Africa where five former Presidents and Heads of State dwell in peace within the country with the incumbent President. I devote my life again and afresh to Nigeria to be faithful, loyal, and honest and to serve and market Nigeria to the best of my ability, so help me God. Ambassador Reno Omokri

@Mascotlee001 @to_yourscreen @MwahafarN You Nigerians need to stop attacking other countries over senseless issues. We have serious problems in Nigeria that require urgent attention. Claiming that having electricity for three weeks is an achievement is honestly embarrassing.

I stand with President @officialABAT! We all have our difficult and challenging time. Every President has their weakness and strength. I understand that some of you are desperate to push words into my mouth. In terms of Security, General Sani Abacha and Olusegun Obasanjo did well, partly because of their military background but @officialABAT is still far better than both of them in terms of general leadership. #StandwithBolaTinubu

@OgbeniDipo Saying Nnamdi Kanu will “automatically” lose his British citizenship are not being accurate. A conviction alone doesn’t trigger that. Under UK law, the Home Secretary may consider deprivation only if it’s “conducive to the public good,” and even then Kanu has appeal rights.

Once you get convicted of terrorism anywhere in the world you automatically lose your British citizenship, if you naturalised. As such, based off Justice Omotosho’s pronouncements, Nnamdi Kanu has lost his British citizenship today. #SayNoToTerrorism

@DbPragmatic @BashirAhmaad However, when it comes to peace talks or releasing Boko Haram members and bandits, people from the North rarely come online to oppose it. If the bandits, Fulani militants, and Boko Haram members can be granted freedom, why can’t Nnamdi Kanu be freed as well?

It is a grave betrayal to the innocent lives lost and the countless victims of IPOB’s brutality to call for the release of Nnamdi Kanu. This is a man who deliberately incited violence, engineered killings and unleashed destruction across the South East and other parts of Nigeria. His actions tore families apart, destabilized communities and left deep scars on our nation.

We don’t hold women accountable enough We don’t call the useless ones losers enough A woman opened her legs willingly and got pregnant for a man that doesn’t like her nor want her (wether true or false) yet she’s calling out and defaming the man and she continues to be platformed If we don’t start throwing useless women in jail, baby mama pandemic and subjecting children to broken homes and horrible upbringing will never end

When President Bola Ahmed Tinubu hastily and thoughtlessly removed fuel subsidy on the day of his inauguration, he triggered an economic avalanche that has since buried the average Nigerian under the weight of inflation, hunger, and despair. In a bid to manage the self-inflicted crisis, the administration promised to pay a wage award to federal civil servants as a temporary cushion pending the conclusion of negotiations on a new national minimum wage. That promise, like many others under this government, has become a broken covenant. It took the Tinubu administration a staggering 10 months to arrive at a new minimum wage figure. By implication, the Federal Government owes 10 months of wage award arrears to federal workers. Yet, only six months have been paid and that too after a series of unfulfilled assurances and avoidable delays. As of today, the Federal Government owes four months of wage awards, amounting to ₦35,000 monthly, a total of ₦140,000 per worker. While several state governments have shown commendable responsibility in the management of labour affairs, the Tinubu-led Federal Government has distinguished itself by its callous indifference and utter disdain for workers’ welfare. To make matters worse, instead of engaging in dialogue or fulfilling its promises, the government has now resorted to tyranny and suppression of free speech. Nearly two weeks ago, Comrade Andrew Uche Emelieze was arrested and detained for attempting to organize a peaceful protest to demand the payment of the overdue wage awards. His only "crime" was speaking up for workers abandoned by the state. We demand the immediate and unconditional release of Comrade Emelieze. His continued detention is an affront to democracy, a slap in the face of every Nigerian worker, and a chilling reminder of the authoritarian drift of the Tinubu administration. Let it be known: Nigerian workers will not be silenced, intimidated, or forgotten. The economic hardship is real, the hunger is biting, and the government has a duty to act, not repress. -AA
