@DaleJohnsonBBC This is bonkers. One cant possibly justify the Maguire one as a pen if amad’s wasn’t. I’d be fine with either both being pens or both not, but there is more of a pull on amad than evanilson so the “not enough for a foul” justification for truffert has to then apply to maguire too

KMI Panel votes are in. Bournemouth v Man United: ✅ Amad Diallo no penalty decision correct on-field and with VAR. 5:0 no VAR intervention ✅ Other pens Everton v Chelsea: ❌ Chelsea should have got a late on-field pen at Everton, not for VAR 👇 bbc.co.uk/sport/football…

@England_Pod 👍 Maguire showing his worth again 👎 lack of width/penetration (and, perhaps related, hall not getting a start in either game)

@England_Pod Gordon’s done it a lot for Newcastle, and many places showing it as him. Don’t know if that’s inside knowledge or educated guess. Gordon wide would give a better chance of width - slightly concerned about four 10s causing congestion, worsened by Fbs who don’t really overlap

@AliMaxwell_ @England_Pod Strongly agree. It’s eye-catching making a run where he beats a man or two - as he did Friday - but far too often he takes too many touches, plays a poor ball or flat cross. If we’re defending a lead he’s a great out ball off the bench, but Gordon should start for me

And you’ve got the cheek to call this a “send off series” game. Wish I’d plumped for the Japan game with tickets the same price

@DaleJohnsonBBC @sistoney67 I’d be interested to hear the communication on the Maguire one in particular. The match centre have said that one stood because it was deemed a “holding offence” but personally I can’t see a hold (hand on him, yes, but no hold). So if no hold, should that’ve led to OFR?

On Amad and Evanilson penalty situations. Both might or might not have been penalties. They are subjective, in the grey zone. So on-field decision stands. VAR's role is not, and ever has been, to create consistency of decision making. Each is judged individually. #BOUMUN

@England_Pod @England As someone with tickets for Uruguay, unhappy about the rested players for the first game 👎 As an England fan, happy about the rested players for the first game 👍 (still a bit miffed it was described as a “send off” game though, when it’s actually a try out game)

Well then. Thomas Tuchel’s enlarged 35-man England squad for March friendlies vs Uruguay and Japan...📋 Tell us one thing you’re pleased about and one thing you’re unhappy about. 👍👎 (@England)

@henrywinter Understand the logic from a squad prep perspective but a bit disrespectful to match going fans of the first game, no? I’ve got tickets with my dad to that one and it was advertised as a “send off”, not a B team. If they’d advertised as such we could’ve made informed decision

Tuchel gives 11 players, who've had intense club seasons, “a bit of a break” and they will miss the Uruguay game: D Henderson, Burn, Konsa, Guehi, Anderson, O’Reilly, Rice, Rogers, Kane, Gordon, Saka. "All of these guys have played 3,500+ mins. They will come with hunger." #ENG

Thomas Tuchel talking now… “we’ve decided to split into two camps. 19 outfield players and 4 keepers against Uruguay. From Sat morning, 11 players will join us in camp and release some players to have 22 outfield players for the Japan game.”

@England As someone with tickets for the 1st game, it’s frustrating we’ll see a B team. Especially given TT suggests it’s a pre determined plan - perhaps that could’ve been made clear up front rather than calling it the “send off” games, when many of these players won’t actually be going

Manchester United have a huge opportunity this summer to dominate English football again. Get the manager decision right, Enrique or Nagelsmann, Recruitment must be spot on like last summer. 3 midfielders 1 left winger and fullbacks. Opportunity is there for INEOS.

The lesson here is that you can go for over a year barely winning any games, finish 16th, alienate beloved homegrown players, stubbornly stick with an unsuitable formation then change it for some nebulous reason you're fine...but if you mildly question Jason Wilcox's authority...

INEOS kept on a manager they had no faith in, openly canvassing Europe for his successor but then armed him with £200m to spend on players he wanted, and changed the backroom staff before sacking him anyway. They axed a sporting director, whose way of working was well established, because he did not fit in with how they wanted him to work. He warned them about selecting a head coach attached to a fixed style of play, which didn’t suit the squad and how expensive it would be to build a quality 3-4-3. They didn’t listen, insisted they believed wholeheartedly in Ruben Amorim’s approach, but then wouldn’t fully back it in the transfer market and asked him to change the tactical principles that attracted them to him. Some “best in class” decision-making…

Who could have guessed that Rubén Amorim reverting to his beloved 3-4-3 formation, which delivered Manchester United's worst results in the Premier League era, would once again stink the place out.
