1) Late night radio was at it’s best when Candy was on @downtownradio. Years after moving to England & then finding the station over the internet I tuned in for the craic. We chatted about life & music, I visited Candy & Shirley in the studio.
It was shortly before 6am when this character entered the shop at 6.02 he went to leave having put products in his pockets I challenged him and he didn’t resist just set the things out and walked off I honestly think he was hoping I would be frightened of him Heart pounding now.
@JRRadioNI A big part of N.I. broadcasting ,his 'wind down' sound helped so many to relax and enjoy the music ...will be sadly missed ...many condolences to his family and radio family...
Very sorry to hear this sad news. John was ever-present over the decades with his distinctive and much appreciated approach to late night broadcasting especially. Sincere condolences to his family, friends and loyal listeners.
A couple of linguists bringing it back home to English. Inevitable that we’d both take an interest in dialect in our PhDs! @A_L_Henry congratulations to you!

Can you help a community group dedicated to brightening up #Larne town centre? We're trying to raise some money for Summer 2024 projects. Here's how to help: gofund.me/9c8e75a5. We envisage more paintings, mosaics, poetry and photography on the walls — our way of cheering up a town that has completely neglected. Without millions from any government on offer, we makes things, paint things, cleans things up and try to keep smiling!
