Meanwhile, BTS is set to embark on a series of active promotions following the release of their new album. On the 20th at 2:00 PM KST, they will host a special group live broadcast celebrating their comeback, titled "STUDIO NOTES | ARIRANG," via their official channel on the global superfan platform, Weverse. The following day, the 21st, at 8:00 PM KST, they will hold the "BTS THE COMEBACK LIVE | ARIRANG" event in the vicinity of Gwanghwamun Square.

Q. One thing that hasn't changed compared to the past - RM: When I’m with the members, the version of myself that I like best comes out—things like the innocence and childlike spirit I had when I was young. We often talk about how we genuinely have the most fun when we’re together. It’s not easy to find friends who feel just like family like this. - Jin: Rather than saying something has "changed," I’d point to something that has actually improved: the bond between the members has grown even closer. The atmosphere—where we naturally laugh and joke around whenever we’re together—remains exactly the same. Even these days, if we hear about a great restaurant, we still go out to eat there together. - Suga / V: Our passion for the stage and our love for what we do are things that I don't think will ever change. - Jimin: Moving forward, there will undoubtedly be difficulties whenever we take on new challenges. That is why we must continue to carefully deliberate on what is right and make our choices accordingly. Nevertheless, one thing that will never change is our attitude—our determination to keep swimming forward without stopping, just like in the song "SWIM." - J-Hope / Jungkook: Our feelings for ARMY remain unchanged. We are always grateful, and we love you.

Q. The Reason You Chose ‘SWIM’ as the Title Track - RM: As it was the title track, we spent the longest time grappling with it. We spent an entire month trying to create a song that could surpass ‘SWIM,’ but it wasn’t easy. When I first heard this track, I felt it possessed a clean, smooth charm—much like Pyongyang *naengmyeon* (cold noodles). The more I listened to it, the more I felt a desire to “swim along with it.” - Jin: Rather than being a song that immediately grabs your attention right from the start, it’s a track with a power that lingers in your memory the more you listen to it. In particular, the rhythmic accent that appears midway through the song (a sound like “ddong-dda-da-dang”) is quite memorable. Whenever I listen to that specific part, I completely lose track of time. - J-Hope: We strove to create a performance where the music remains clearly audible even while the audience is watching the choreography. There are specific details, such as movements that mimic ocean waves or a moment where we sink down quietly, as if diving underwater. At first, I worried that ‘SWIM’ might feel a bit too plain when placed alongside our more high-impact tracks; however, the more I listened, the more I found myself naturally melting into the sound and feeling a sense of ease. Ultimately, we selected it as our title track because it best aligned with the themes and messages we wanted to convey. - V: Amidst a lineup of songs featuring powerful sounds, ‘SWIM’ felt the most understated and clean. Initially, I thought, “This isn’t a particularly sensational or intense track,” but as I continued to listen, I realized that it was actually the kind of song I could enjoy listening to for a very long time. - Jungkook: It was a song that made me think, “This is exactly right,” the more I listened to it. The lyrics contain elements that beautifully capture who “BTS is right now,” and the performance features fresh, unique points that set it apart from our previous work—so I hope everyone will pay close attention to those details.

Q. The Criteria Established for Expressing "Korean Elements" - RM: Rather than simply adopting Korean elements as if they were a fixed template, we wanted to express them naturally—in our own contemporary way. We believe that the emotional resonance is conveyed more broadly when we add subtle variations and our own unique interpretations. We specifically wanted to approach "Arirang"—a piece open to diverse interpretations—from a slightly different angle and offer a fresh perspective on it. - Jin / Suga: Instead of shoehorning Korean elements in, we focused on seamlessly weaving them into our work in a way that feels authentic to us. We strove to strike a balance that preserves the distinct Korean sentiment while ensuring that BTS’s own unique color remains vivid and unmistakable. - J-Hope: I certainly believe that balance and restraint are crucial. However, within that framework, there are specific moments—key focal points—where making a bold, dramatic statement can actually be even more impactful. For this album and our performances, we carefully considered how to apply this principle: "Don't overdo it, but make a definitive statement exactly when it’s needed." - Jimin: We spent a great deal of time contemplating our identity—both in our music and our overall performance style—and how we could express ourselves in a way that feels truly "us." As an extension of that reflection, we also revisited the significance of our background as a group comprised entirely of Korean members. Consequently, we decided to make Korean elements a central focal point of this project. In particular, "Arirang" is a word and a folk song that every Korean has encountered countless times since childhood; choosing it as the title for our album therefore came with a distinct sense of both pressure and responsibility.

Q. How did you decide on the "Korean elements" incorporated into the album? - RM: To start, we simply threw out various ideas that came to mind. During our songwriting sessions, we even worked on a track inspired by Taekwondo. Although that particular song didn't make it onto the final album, I personally really liked it. I believe that "Korean elements" serve as a crucial keyword that binds the seven of us together, as they connect directly to where we began—to our very roots. The definition of what constitutes "Korean" is something that is constantly being redefined and evolving even now. We thought it would be exciting to become a part of that ongoing evolution ourselves. - Jin / Suga: The concept for the album's logo actually originated from an idea proposed by Jungkook. As members contributed their perspectives from various angles, the current album concept took shape; given that the entire group consists of Korean members, there was also a consensus that it would be fitting to naturally incorporate Korean elements. - J-Hope: We have infused the lyrics of our new album with the spirit and culture of Korea. We made a concerted effort to create more points of connection—areas where all seven of us could truly come together—across various aspects of the project. I believe that returning to show our true selves, just as we are, ultimately begins with our roots. It is because those roots were firmly established together that we stand here today. - V: All the members contributed a wealth of ideas and put a great deal of thought into how to weave our individual personalities into the work. I think ARMY will also find it enjoyable to discover those unique touches one by one.

The following is a Q&A session with BTS. Q. How do you feel about making a comeback after three years and nine months? - Group: We feel excited and nervous, but above all, we are deeply moved. Just the fact that the seven of us have gathered together after such a long time to create something as a group makes us feel happy and grateful. Since ARMY (our fandom) has waited so patiently for us, we’ve returned with a fantastic release that we’ve prepared with great care. The very opportunity to show our best selves to everyone once again brings us immense emotion and happiness. As this is our first group album in a while, the excitement is high—and with that comes a bit of apprehension—but knowing that we have our members and ARMY by our side, we don’t have any major worries. Q. What is the main message you wish to convey through this album? - Suga: We spent a lot of time contemplating what it truly means to be "us." Rather than trying to deliver some grand, sweeping message, we chose to focus on "us"—on who we are—as the central theme. - Jimin: We wanted to express the idea that we are constantly moving forward. There is always a certain pressure to present something new and to show a better version of ourselves; naturally, that involves a great deal of deep contemplation and worry. Nevertheless, we wanted to convey our determination to never stop—to keep swimming forward, no matter what. - Jungkook: We hope you will view this as an album that is quintessentially "BTS"—one that faithfully captures the unique passage of time and distinct colors of each individual member.
