I’ll be @MurdochUni today as 3 more colleagues depart, leaving only 4 academics in a once thriving maths discipline. Just 12 months ago there were 12 of us! And yes, that means massive teaching workload increases for those remaining.

Use of first person pronouns is often required to use active voice. Passive voice is not only old-fashioned, it's weak.

A recent review of one of my postdoctoral researchers' articles stated: 'The article should be written impersonally, avoiding the word "we"'. My opinion is that this recommendation is antiquated and unnecessary. What do you guys think?
