i would recommend this method over using AI. you'll have better chances at connecting with real people, especially your readers who have the same disease as the character you're writing. they'll feel more seen and i think that's very important

+often times when i write 'habits' for my characters, thats because i have seen a real person with that disability who displayed that trait. and writing like this has got me a lot of positive comments. some readers even pointed out the exact traits i wrote, calling them accurate!

+speak about their own diseases. a comment in a forum where a BPD person describes their life will help you A LOT MORE in writing a realistic character than wikipedia pages ever will. especially if you're an introspective kind of storyteller. +

not commenting on the fic situation but if anyone wants to try and learn how to better write a disabled or mentally ill character i have a tip that has helped me a lot. instead of getting lost in "researching the disease," i suggest you look up forums where those disabled people+

AO3 author YingBuGu admits to using AI in their HR longfic too and the readers eat it up. I’m starting to think it’s less about a witch hunt and more that readers simply do not care about plagiarism, the environment, or human creativity. Bleak as hell.
