Just watched last night’s Match of the Day. The commentator at the City Ground called Forest v Liverpool “lacking in quality” and “a real bore”. I was there. It wasn’t. The result went against my team but it was a gripping game and we played them off the park for 45 minutes.

There is one objective metric, and that is position relatively to club spending. It’s extremely hard to outperform the spending level by more than a place or two. Before Leicester won the league, the lowest spender achieving a top4 position was the seventh highest spender. Currently Slot is outperforming the spending metric by at least three places. Maresca is doing worse than he should
