As Sarah said, my speech, reflected on the importance of platforming Black Canadians and the African diaspora in Edmonton, and spoke to how essential our work is every day here at CBC. Look at God!

I was lucky enough to attend the special event with my amazing husband Elijah and CBC Edmonton’s Executive Producer of News, Sarah O’Donnell! I was literally shaking to be celebrated among the accomplished group of women honoured at this year’s event.

I received the Media and Communications Award at the Her Legacy Awards 2025, hosted by @whenafricanwomentalk. “Celebrating your powerful voice in media and your commitment… “Your work has amplified important narratives and fostered greater understanding in our society.”

Erika Kirk said her husband wanted to save lost young men, like the man suspected of taking his life. She quoted Jesus who asked God to forgive those who crucified him “for they know not what they do.” “That man, I forgive him,” she said, crying. cbc.ca/9.6910948
