This is freshman Joshua Whritenour. His first two pitches of the fall were a 96 mph fastball that checked in around 2,500 RPM and an 87 mph slider at just under 3,000 (!!) RPM.
Among Major League pitchers who threw at least 100 sliders in 2024, six averaged over 2,900 RPM.
