In 2017 the road over Park St bridge was strengthened at a cost of £750k, raising a 7.5-tonne weight restriction to 40t. “Short-term pain for long-term gain” we were told at the time. Five years on its being reconstructed in a new £200k scheme because of its “poor condition”.
