Here at Abstract we play a constant balance between upholding the decentralization that keeps us hungry for building and furthering crypto and ensuring that our users are also protected.
It is a balance that not a single person on our team takes lightly.
Recently the @playblastem team has put us into a position where we must lean on the side of protecting our users, and away from decentralization.
This team approached us a few months ago for support on their project, before we had a chance to chat and take a call they began messaging many creators in the ecosystem telling them we were in full support, after calling this out to them they backed down.
We then took some calls and were met with immediate red flags from the team, logic and handling of funds were off-chain and unaudited, and they planned to do a token presale before we ever would see the product, and the founder seemed to be outsourcing the dev work.
Enough red flags that we unfollowed the account as a team, and began to put some distance in place.
Unfortunately, the founder took our call as simply a feedback loop and decided to change to an NFT presale and messaged numerous other founders in our ecosystem pushing a similar narrative as when we first talked to him, that we supported the project.
As of last night after attempting to rectify this with the founder, it was clear that his intentions were max extraction and not for building a real product in the Abstract ecosystem.
We like to hope that all founders and builders have the best interest in mind, but it has been clear that this is not the case with this team, and I want to urge folks to exercise caution when interacting with the project.
I know that some in the community have already done this presale, and we have urged the founder to refund any sales to this point.
Abstract builds better together and through honest builders 🤝
