Also: Is there any other country in the world right now that is making their bullshit everyone else’s problem, on this global scale? Nope. The poor choices of the median US voter has fucked the whole world, and the world won’t soon forget that.

For the life of me, I don't understand why they think taking Kharg Island is such a great idea and I don't understand why they'd take such a risk by putting troops over there. Putting aside that the American troops on it would be constantly harassed by drones and that it would therefore create incentives to also take the coast, thereby increasing the risk of a quagmire, if you take it the Iranians will simply stop exporting oil through it. Sure, they will lose most of their oil revenue, but this would also increase the pressure on the market by forcing China to buy more non-sanctioned oil, which is precisely why the US has so far allowed Iran to continue to export oil. If you want to reverse that policy, why not do a "distant blockade" with the US Navy, instead of taking the risk of putting troops on the ground? It seems to me that, if you're willing to accept the rise in oil prices that preventing Iran from exporting oil would cause, this would be a much safer way of depriving it of that revenue. Also, I don't understand how they could keep the troops on Kharg Island properly supplied as long as the US Navy is scared of sending its ships through Hormuz, but if the goal of the operation is to force Iran to reopen Hormuz then it would still be closed by definition. Frankly, I'm skeptical that depriving Iran of its oil revenue would force it to capitulate instead of escalate things at this juncture, but even apart from that nothing about this idea makes sense to me.

Worth noting that Lukashenko has allowed Russian troops to invade Ukraine from Belarus, has allowed Putin to transform Belarus into an extension of Russia's military base, and to launch missile strikes from Belarusian territory. He has granted Russia permission deploy nuclear-capable missiles, including the Oreshnik intermediate-range ballistic missile, to Belarus.

Belarus' Alexander Lukashenko says Trump has invited him to Mar-a-Lago to discuss a "big deal" with the US. This would presumably bring his country in from the cold after years of sanctions over his repressions and help for Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

For the umpteenth time, photo ID is very different from proof of citizenship, which the SAVE America Act would require. And you're too dense to understand that a citizenship requirement to vote would hurt Trump voters much more than Democratic ones.
Elon Musk@elonmusk

No voter ID, especially when combined with mail-in ballots, means the system is engineered to make fraud impossible to prove. Everyone knows that you can barely get through your week without showing ID for the most banal activities, like shopping at Costco. The only reason to ban ID is to hide massive voter fraud.

The GCC could split the difference between bad options by (1) striking the drone & missile launch sites Iran is using to attack their civilian infrastructure, whilst (2) making it crystal clear that they blame 🇺🇸🇮🇱 for starting this & aren’t “joining” their illegal war. But: 1/

I guess if you are a sociopath, the fact that the economic downside of this war is much worse for India than for the United States counts as an argument in its favor but this is truly some wild long-term geopolitics we are engaged in.

WOW. Just in the last two weeks, BYD showrooms around the world are seeing a surge in customer demand from people who are deciding that now is the time to switch to EVS, with oil prices so high. bloomberg.com/news/articles/…
