But if intimacy matters, then it can’t be one person’s responsibility to control it or the other person’s job to constantly “earn” it. It has to be shared. It’s why in the past I have said “women are gatekeepers for keeping sex alive in marriages” You can’t treat sex like a reward while also expecting your man to solely be responsible for creating desire.
