Tennessee Christian MAGA musician Philip Wayne Vaught has been hit with a 160-count indictment following a lengthy Hendersonville Police investigation. He was arrested over the weekend in Mississippi and is being held on a $1.5 million bond.
The Sumner County Criminal Court indictment, unveiled Tuesday, includes charges of aggravated r*pe, r*pe of a minor, solicitation of s*xual exploitation, and unlawful s*xual penetration of a minor by someone in a position of trust. Vaught also faces dozens of counts related to using a minor in the production of s*xual material and possession of child s*xual abuse material. The alleged incidents span from 2015 to as recently as January 2026.
Vaught, a Kentucky native and son of a minister, relocated to Tennessee as his music career grew.
Kim Germann, Clinical Director at Nashville’s S*xual Assault Center, noted that delayed reporting is common among child victims. “They don’t know that anybody will believe them, and the shame, embarrassment, fear of shame and blame will keep them from talking,” she said.
Vaught is an outspoken Trump supporter and promoter of MAGA-aligned politics on social media, such as Facebook and X. The case has not received national media coverage despite Vaught being a somewhat prominent figure in the country-rock music scene. Critics, including myself, point out that if he were transgender, drag queen, or undocumented immigrant, this case would instantly become a national scandal and it would be demanded new laws be put in place to protect children from said minority group.
