Was actually talking about this with a couple of parents after “The Sheep Detectives” of all things. (Good movie.)
They were talking about how it was the rare modern kids’ movie that felt like the kind of kids’ movie we grew up watching.

The problem is Mario just doesn’t have enough character to meaningfully toy with. An evil Mario would just be a cheaper Homelander.

I just had a random thought. When Micheal Jackson was working on Sonic 3, he apparently was frustrated with the limitations of the genesis soundchip, which was apparently one of the reasons he went uncredited. They shoulda just let him hop in the studio for Sonic CD, because it was being worked on around the same time. There woulda been no limits to hold him back with CD quality audio

One of my friends said the most jarring experience was to watch a video Audrey Tatou doing a scene in a Amelie or something similarly quirky, and then hearing the director declare “cut” and seeing Tatou revert to her “real self”
