i imagine that they’d teach her but it would also establish conflict / double standard within their society, and the idea that only the most important women, or just the avatar herself every century or two are allowed to be taught and others cannot for fun / art

i always wondered what would’ve happened if aang had been a girl under this circumstance. in the past the avatar could’ve learned from a southern waterbending master, but they were all killed. would they have made an exception for the avatar or would she have been refused too?

I feel like there’s not enough atla alt history stuff. ‘Fire Nation Wins’ are pretty corny, give me something like ‘what if kyoshi lived even longer and prevented the hundred years war’, focusing on the collapse of the earth kingdom with nothing for them to unify against

@chaandmami they were probably the most rich, militarily powerful, and influential country, until they became complacent and the fire nation unified, using innovation and science to progress their own imperial goals, it really is pretty much Japan and China

@chaandmami The earth kingdom seemed to be the most centralized and “””””united””””” government in the world until the fire nation unified in kyoshi’s time,. I wouldn’t be surprised if the northwesternmost regions of the EK were once home to more air temples before forcing air nomads out

what’s interesting is that apparently in the atla world whoever is the “oppressor” kinda moves between nations a lot in a way that we don’t see in our actual reality. the aang movie was telling us at one point the earth kingdom was a MAJOR oppressor at one point in history
