During my interview with @owenjonesjourno two weeks ago, I spoke about the IOF bombing of the IVF clinic where I had my treatment in 2021, and how I lost three frozen embryos in that attack. Many women were not as fortunate as I was; they lost their only chance to become mothers. Watch full interview here: youtu.be/zBOFccY3RWo?si… One of the most heartbreaking stories I heard from the head nurse at Basma IVF Clinic was about a woman who had undergone treatment just months before the genocide began. Her husband suffered from congenital defects, and for six years she waited, saving penny by penny from his modest income, borrowing from relatives, and doing everything she could just to afford IVF. Eventually, by God’s grace, things came together. She completed all the necessary tests, her husband underwent sperm extraction, and four embryos were successfully created. Two were transferred, and two were frozen. Two weeks later, she took a pregnancy test. It was positive. She was pregnant with twins. The joy was indescribable. For one of the most financially and emotionally difficult cases, it had finally worked. But five months into her pregnancy, the war on Gaza began. Fear consumed her. She was displaced from Jabalia, moving from one place to another under constant threat. Her condition deteriorated. The pain grew worse. She miscarried one baby at home. The second, on the way to the hospital. They were seven months along. There was no chance to place them in incubators because of the intensity of the bombardment. Both babies died. With the bombing of the clinic, she also lost her frozen embryos. She was left with unbearable psychological pain, crying day and night, because her only dream had been to become a mother to the two children she had waited six years to hold.

Corridor care is unacceptable and undignified. To end it, we’re sending specialist teams to the hardest‑hit NHS trusts and rolling out new urgent care services. This includes new and improved urgent treatment centres and same day emergency centres. Read more: gov.uk/government/new…
