Spent this week editing the hard way. Made every mistake once. – Cut jump cuts lazy, left silence between them. Fix: cut on the last syllable of one line, first syllable of the next. Nudge frame by frame till it's instant. – Did the exciting part of the edit first. Deadline caught up and the boring work still wasn't done. Now boring work first, fun part last - it's the reward for finishing. – Grabbed music that "worked" instead of music that was right. Nearly shipped it. Music decides the whole feel of a video more than any cut does. None of this came from a course. It came from messing up mid-edit and figuring out why.

Most editors think: "My animations need to be perfect before I get clients." Reality: Animations get you in the door. Storytelling keeps you in the room. But you can't practice storytelling in 30-second sample edits. Get the client first. Learn the rest on the job.

Ngl feeling really low rn. did trial edits the whole day and idk why but i just feel empty and low after. don't want to touch any editing software for 2-3 days. but honestly in this low i got so clear on one thing. i'm gonna be a known go to editor for talking head videos. however long it takes grateful for that clarity even on a day like this.

Your biggest opportunities won't come from your closest friends. They'll come from people you barely know. Your inner circle thinks like you. Lives like you. Knows the same people you do. Weak connections open doors your close friends don't even know exist. DM that person you met once. Reply to that post from someone outside your niche. Join that call you almost skipped. The best things in my career came from people I barely knew.
