This is really a significant development. Neither the Department of Education nor Educate Together are taking responsibility for REMOVING THE TOILET WALLS - *after* planning permission was granted. This is happening across Educate Together schools. Who & why are individuals or special-interest groups secretly meddling with school design to remove sex-based boundaries for children? Whoever is doing this needs to be found. Again well done to the @DailyMail & the women who are pursuing this. We are not letting it go. STOP SOCIAL ENGINEERING OUR CHILDREN. @garmacnamee @JamieMcCarron5 @1Hildegarde @OdohertyI64991 @timcrowley_ @emernowlan @EducateTogether

@garmacnamee @dootdootootdoot Why won’t the person with the authority to remove teenage boys and girls privacy, take responsibility for their decision? 🧐

Dr Aoife Neary strikes again! In her 2025 publication 'Interrogating the orientation toward anti-homophobic/transphobic bullying procedures in primary schools' she makes the following statements: 🚩"...in early childhood, most children’s relationships to gender and sexuality are fluid and many children of primary school age are identifying as LGBTQ+." 🚫 False. Most children do NOT have a fluid gender or sexuality. That is an ideological claim rather than an empirically grounded one. 🚩"...gender and sexuality norms are continuously produced and policed...with discourses of “childhood innocence” and “age appropriateness” playing a significant part in restricting how primary schools approach gender and sexuality diversity." 🚫 These are not mere "discourses". Childhood innocence is real. Premature sexual exposure is harmful. Concerns about Age-appropriateness are empirically grounded in what we know from developmental and cognitive psychology about the age at which children can meaningfully process complex, abstract and emotionally charged topics. 🚩"They also fuel and mobilize moral panics about “promoting” LGBTQ+ lives or the notion that a child might be somehow “recruited” to identify as LGBTQ+." 🚫 Characterising genuine and legitimate concerns as fuelling a "moral panic" is nothing more than a tactic to de-legitimise those concerns. The fact is that there is increasing evidence that social influence and peer dynamics play a role in the sharp rise and specific patterns of adolescent gender‑identity declarations. Many detransitioners are indeed describing their experience as something like "recruitment" into an ideology. 🚩"...the reality remains that Catholic religious doctrine prescribes the exclusion of LGBTQ+ people." 🚫 Catholic doctrine does not prescribe the exclusion of LGBTQ+ *people*; its prohibitions are directed at same‑sex sexual acts and the recognition of same‑sex unions, not at persons as such. 🚩"Many have pointed out that this concerted investment in “childhood innocence” is laden with contradictions and that “innocence” “is something that adults wish upon children, not a natural feature of childhood itself.” 🚫 If anything is being "wished upon" children in this debate, it is adult sexuality. There are now examples of images, concepts and discussion of behaviours that children are not developmentally equipped to process included in our curriculum. I still cannot believe that this person was co-opted onto the NCCA development group for Junior Cycle SPHR/RSE.

In 2018, Dr. Aoife Neary told the Oireachtas Education Committee that "fears around childhood innocence act as a barrier" to sex ed in schools and that "comprehensive RSE" should start from age 3. Read her views on "queering childhood innocence" here: gript.ie/sphe-the-irish…

This week we have been in Brussels at the European Parliament meeting with MEPs from across the political spectrum as well as with civil society organisations. We've had some very valuable exchanges about the importance of women's sex based rights, child safeguarding and freedom of expression. It was clear from many conversations we had that MEPs are accustomed to discussions about these issues being polarised and they were surprised to hear a critique of the erosion of sex based rights that comes from people with a background in progressive politics, lesbian and gay rights activism and feminism. We hope we gave them food for thought. Our aim is to move these debates beyond knee-jerk polarised positions and bring scrutiny to proposals like self-ID, conversion therapy bans which include gender identity and the expansion of hate speech regulations.

Great article @irishdailymail. Kudos to those parents speaking out. Interesting parallel situation in this article linked below. The student’s parents are suing over the same type of unisex toilets @HCETSS have installed. In Ireland’s Equality Acts gender means sex, male and female, and an exemption on the Gender Ground allows for ‘different treatment on the basis of gender where embarrassment or breach of privacy could reasonably be expected to happen on account of the presence of a person of another gender’ Be interesting to see who gets sued here. I wouldn’t want to be a school principal, BOM member or patron body of a school that has approved the @HCETSS type of set-up highlighted in the @irishdailymail article. @1Hildegarde has washed hands, says it’s up to schools how they designate toilets, @hcetss says it’s only following orders from the Department of Education 🤔. @EducateTogether @Education_Ire ‘Distressed schoolgirl avoids gender-neutral lavatories, court told’ thetimes.com/article/ad5d10

@DanniBrener It's a phenomenon know as "Schrodinger's Trans" in which women's spaces, sports, language, etc is so irrelevant and unimportant that women shouldn't mind giving them up while simultaneously being so consequential and necessary that men will die if they can't have them.

Irish making a spectacle of themselves in Britain this week... Fr Ted creator Graham Linehan wins an appeal against a criminal conviction Moloko lead singer Roisin Murphy highly-regarded (in Britain and online) speech at a House of Lords event Journalist Helen Joyce and her book 'Trans: When Ideology meets Reality ' named in the Top 25 Times list of non-fiction for the 21st century You'd think this concurrence might merit a word or two in our Sunday press.

@IrishTimes Niche references to a tiny part of NI also won’t be understood by most people from Ireland never mind US. Most Irish people don’t understand rap as gaelige either. It’s nonsense to say they reject America they are incomprehensible to many Irish people too 🙄

Just contemplating the discussion around the generational gap in attitudes to freedom and to the arts. Made me have a jump of comprehension that this is completely deliberate. Generation X have mostly been shut out of the higher levels of power, and do seem to be the most cancelled (I have 100s of cases at @Freedom_in_Arts ) Gen X are the ONLY group of people who truly know, understand and can navigate the analogue, pre internet days, AND the fully digitalised age. We grew up meeting on time, at a location, on bikes, without phones or too many threats. We adapted to new tech with verve- the internet was exciting, mobile phone were immediately adopted. I remember my first email address around my first ever job. We were the future. But I think we’ve been deliberately erased because we do not fit the current agenda. We have no boomer guilt, and can not be manipulated, we have always been independent. We are not racist, homophonic or sexist. We had an incredible youth culture that was truly inclusive. And we have no patience for the indulgences of the millennials or younger. We have all wanted to help, mentor and share, but we do feel first rejected then seemingly alienated. But we are not to be messed with, although we are a small demographic. It really works to cancel us. Most of us are entrepreneurs but we are all vulnerable because we tend to be outside the system. Gen X It is time to step up and to speak out. We are the last frontline before, sadly I think something quite disturbing. I will elaborate as and when. Than you for bothering to read this far.
