Movies used to do this crazy thing where even in dark or dimly lit areas you could still make out everything and the images popped off the screen.

Forgive the incoming info dump but it seems that this 1954 movie has more behind the scenes footage than most movies today. Part 1 of how they made the squid scene. First they filmed it in broad daylight and the squid was a catastrophe.

People who say things like "hummm but Blaziken is a dude and Blastoise has cannons" are not getting the point. It's about personality. Blastoise and Blaziken feel like monsters, while Meowscarada and Cinderace feel like characters.
