Some very important facts for KL fans & some Gill fans too regarding today's playing XI - - KL was NOT dropped because he scored a duck in the last match. He was rested only and only because this is a de@d rubber match and they want to experiment as much as they can before England series (Very limited ODI series available for trial) - KL is your first WK batter and part of playing 11 in ODI setup. Period. One inconsequential match of today which is used for experimentation does not determine how great KL is in ODI setup as MO WK batter. KL is a shoe-in and he is NOT the one having form issues in the team. - If Ishan continues to be our backup WK, then he needs as much gloves experience as he can in 50 over format & create that appetite to be on field for such longer periods. Again today's match is perfect to get him that experience. We already have series win on our side. And KL does not struggle with being on field for longer period since he is used to fielding 50 overs (Ishan is a contingency plan & needs to be prepped for emergencies) - Why Rohit, Jaiswal and Iyer are played above KL? Because all 3 have not scored enough or well in this series. They need to get some runs & confidence under their belt before England series (KL was smashing in 1st match. Already a match winner) - If & when Virat is back (subject to COE clearance), we already have our top 5 fixed with Rohit & Gill opening, Virat at 3, Iyer at 4 and Rahul at 5 (Barring any other surprises. Even Ishan is aware about the fact that he will be on bench if Virat is back) - People need to see above their own idols or players that this is indeed a team sport and if we are really as serious as we are to win WC2027, our bench strength needs to be as good as our main playing X1. This requires testing and we have very limited ODIs available to do any of that. - For a inconsequential series like Afg where everyone was so disinterested, it seems to have attracted the most controversies tbh 😭😭😭😭
