According to sources, amid escalating tensions and mounting pressure on the ground, the United States has requested a 24-hour ceasefire to allow for the safe withdrawal of its forces from Iraq, with the exception of troops stationed in Erbil.
The request reportedly includes coordination with Iraqi resistance movements to minimize clashes during the pullout.
The plan represents a significant shift in Washington’s operational posture as it seeks an organized and controlled exit.
Meanwhile, NATO forces have evacuated their bases across Iraq, suggesting a broader, coordinated drawdown and raising questions about the future of military presence in the region.
