@seangriffey Most likely for contrast and readability when the lines overlap. Also, more contrast with the horizontal guide lines. Green is also the easiest color for the human eye to see, so it definitely draws the eye makes the lines “pop” visually.

I'm not a design nerd but still wonder why the WSJ uses green lines on a stock chart that is clearly down. Wouldn't a business audience expect it to be in red?
