In 1997, architects were facing a stubborn workflow challenge... Their clients were increasingly wanting to change designs after they were completed, and this meant completing extensive manual updates to every drawing. Charles River Software responded to these revision workflow challenges with their new program, Revit – short for “Revise Instantly.” Revit has gone on to transform the work that architects do, but now MEP engineers are facing the same workflow challenges that architects had before Revit was created. Revit delivers high-quality building modelling, but its information capabilities – including calculations, sizing, and compliance – are underdeveloped and not optimal for MEP engineers. h2x was built to address the challenges MEP engineers face when using Revit on large, complex projects. It acts as an engineering layer that sits alongside Revit and feeds it the verified data it needs to be useful. h2x users report up to a 50% reduction in overall design time. Interested? Hevacomp has been discontinued, and there are two potential successors: OpenBuildings Designer and h2x. While both platforms are designed to support building services engineers and promise accurate calculations and informed decision-making capabilities, they are radically different... Radiant Floor (Underfloor) Heating is sometimes thought of as a luxury add-on, but it can deliver so much more. While radiant floor heating systems are sometimes treated as a luxury add-on to specific zones within a space, they can create a more comfortable and energy-efficient indoor climate in ways that forced-air systems fundamentally cannot. Attention all Underfloor (Radiant) Heating Designers! Check out our brand new Update Showcase Video for our Underfloor Heating Workflow: youtube.com/watch?v=5iKVoh… h2x already had the best-in-class platform to enable design engineers a “one-click” option to optimally design any radiant floor/underfloor heating project. These major upgrades include: - 3D view mode, - enhanced smart design warnings, - automated loop splitting, and - custom build options for transit pipe routes and wall offsets. When using many competitors’ software platforms, the design process for a radiant heat project can take days, if not weeks. h2x is using automation to streamline workflows for the modern age.

The story is almost always the same: You’ve spent time and effort carefully completing your design calculations, and then the architect comes to you with changes. After the latest go-around, you’re starting to run out of time and the margin on your project is getting too thin. You finally give in and over-engineer the project to make sure the mechanical systems will meet the needs of ANY possible future changes. Over-engineering is expensive, as it can impact everything from equipment selection to installation labor, energy consumption, and lifecycle impacts. h2x was born out of the frustration that an engineer had with these very issues, and MEP Engineers can trust h2x to help them design right‑sized systems, reduce costs, and design more sustainable buildings. How you ask? Check out our FULL blog below, and discover how h2x tackles over-engineering HEAD-ON: h2xengineering.com/blogs/stop-ove…

Hevacomp has been discontinued and it’s time for the next step. Hevacomp, once a staple for many building services engineers, was already losing favour with many engineers due to its ageing architecture, steep learning curve, and slow workflow. h2x is the premier replacement: • A cloud-based system operating from the browser. • Multiple users can work collaboratively on the same model while tracking all changes. • Intuitive drag-and-drop functionality that performs real-time engineering calculations. • Automatically sizing mechanical and plumbing systems based on the parameters you set. • Export into a branded PDF, AutoCAD file, or a Revit export structured to your standards. • Export reports for calculations and bill of materials to help estimate system costs. h2x eliminates the major issues that frustrated Hevacomp users and made working with it slow, time-consuming with unreliable Revit/AutoCAD exports. Skeptical? Check out our FULL h2x Vs. Hevacomp guide below, and discover how h2x fills the gap that Hevacomp is leaving behind. h2xengineering.com/hevacomp-guide/ #hevacomp #hevacompalternatives

Every design engineer has experienced one universal truth: Nothing derails a well‑engineered plan faster than a last‑minute architectural change. Even when the Architect believes that it's just a minor update, for the engineer, it is ALWAYS a major change. Every system is linked, so changing the load on one part of the system impacts ALL of the calculations and sizing throughout the entire system. Simply put: Spreadsheets can't keep up. h2x represents the next logical step: a tool that handles calculation complexity with modern automation so engineers can focus on engineering, not data entry. Interested? Check out our FULL h2x Eliminates Spreadsheet Burden blog below, and discover how h2x not only decimates the task of managing architectural changes, but increases project accuracy and efficiency overall. h2xengineering.com/blogs/how-h2x-…

What’s more dangerous to an engineering firm: a software that doesn't work, or a tool that still does? On January 1, 2026, Hevacomp became a 'ghost platform': functional but dangerously outdated. Sticking with this legacy system isn't playing it safe; it's gambling your compliance, accuracy, and reputation… So what are the alternatives? Enter h2x! The design software that makes engineering effortless with intuitive design tools and fully automated INSTANT calculations. Even though Hevacomp had its place in the past, it lacks what today’s demands require. h2x fills that gap, delivering results with sharp accuracy and real-world usability, exactly what professionals look for. Skeptical? Check out our FULL h2x Vs. Hevacomp blog below, and discover how h2x fills the gap that Hevacomp is leaving behind. h2xengineering.com/blogs/h2x-succ…
