Saw some type of bee eating chunks out of various leaves including mango, ginger and turmeric. Had never seen before - it is a leaf cutter bee! It will make a nest from the leaves. Bitey.

@dominikmuggli Yes, all pretence of caring about the customer is gone. We are just numbers and profit fodder.

@hp88 That’s even worse. But legit businesses feeling free to just sign you up without (obvious) permission is evil.

We seriously need to stop the practice of automatically signing up everyone for marketing spam email, just because they made a purchase, or showed interest in our products and services.

@minitraveler @jacktla I added some veg stock paste to the sauté at the end. Just a little. Next time I will add some raisins too.

Tuesday. Cat sees facilitator stir at 5am. She settles herself on his chest. Oh, hai cat. ( hmm, this is too early for tuna or going out ) Cat accepts scritches. ( good, good, enjoy scritch, forget routine ) Cat settles. Moves off chest. Forgets routine. ( phew. zzz )

@jacktla I get that. After my friend’s fire the other week, I’m much more alert to the possibility of fires. I had definitely become complacent and default was, “happens to other people”. When it happens to your people, it is not other people any more

Ever since the huge LA fires of January 2025 burned down several of my friends' houses I've stopped using the fire emoji entirely.

The upcoming "mega El Niño" could be the strongest since the 1877 event that wiped out 4% of the Earth's population due to heat waves, drought and pestilence. Scientists watching every weather model update are getting "heart palpitations" ❤️

@MicahSaitama Slightly similar but not quite. They don’t need chocolate in my opinion, but it’s just a different recipe for a change

@hp88 Recipe without the ganache looks similar to flapjacks. Though possibly the Anzacs wouldn’t have had the luxury of chocolate 🍫

@ohazassu I’m so fussy I can’t even verbalise it 😂 I usually do them easy-over after crisping base a bit. But I like some runny yolk, not jammy. Scrambled I like just set.

@hp88 Do you like the yolks fully done or "jammy"? I like jammy but can't do the fully hard/dried ones.

Beyond China's world-famous high-speed rail, there's another side to its trains: This is the "village slow trains" (公益慢火车) winds through remote mountains in Guizhou. Farmers casually bring goats, pigs, chickens, ducks, fruits, and vegetables on board to sell in town. Lowest ticket: just 2 yuan (~$0.28). No extra charge for livestock. 81 pairs still run nationwide, mainly -a public welfare lifeline for rural communities.
