Troops Rescue Wife of Retired General Rabe Abubakar in Katsina, Intensify Offensive Against Bandits Troops of Operation FANSAN YANMA have rescued Mrs. Abubakar, wife of retired Maj.-Gen. Rabe Abubakar, following a shootout with armed bandits in Matazu Local Government Area of Katsina State. Military sources exclusively told Zagazola that the operation, conducted under Operation CLEAN SWEEP III, followed intelligence-led offensives launched in Matazu and adjoining communities after the abduction incident involving the retired senior officer and his family. According to the sources, troops made contact with the bandits at Tunga village during a search-and-rescue operation, forcing the armed group to flee after coming under heavy military pressure. “The bandits shot her and fled when we made contact at Tunga village. We have rescued Mrs. Abubakar. She is bleeding, we have given her first aid and are moving her for urgent medical attention,” a military source said. The source confirmed that the rescued victim was immediately stabilised by troops on the ground before being evacuated to a medical facility for further treatment. Military authorities said follow-up operations have been intensified in the area, with troops sustaining a coordinated pursuit of fleeing bandits and suspected kingpins believed to be responsible for the attack and earlier abduction. They added that the ongoing clearance operation under Operation CLEAN SWEEP III will continued until all criminal hideouts are dismantled. As a Muslim, there's something that genuinely bothers me. Millions of Muslims live in Christian majority countries, build mosques, preach Islam publicly, distribute Qur'ans, open halal businesses, and demand religious freedom,and rightly so. Some even call for aspects of Shariah to be accommodated in the societies they've moved to. Yet in some Muslim majority countries, Christians cannot openly preach the Gospel, build churches freely, or practice their faith without restrictions. Why? If we demand religious freedom for ourselves, we should be willing to grant it to others. Truth does not need censorship. If Islam is the truth, it has nothing to fear from a church, a Bible, or a Christian preacher. You can't demand tolerance and freedom for Muslims abroad while denying the same freedoms to others at home. The double standard needs to be called out.

A sex crime perpetrator committed suicide instead of apologizing to the victims, and now his girlfriend, the victim who demanded an apology, must pay a fine. A man, along with his friends, illegally filmed and sexually harassed 80 women, including his girlfriend. Among the victims were minors. His girlfriend discovered this and told him, “Apologize to the victims.” He then committed suicide, and his family and his friends who participated in the sex crime with him sued her. In the first trial, the court ruled her innocent of the crime of coercion but guilty of the crime of defamation with factual disclosure. The prosecution judged that her continuous statements to him saying, “Apologize to the victims,” caused his fear and anxiety. Although she had reported him to police or sought support programs and treatment information when he said, “I’m going to commit suicide,” the prosecution deemed her simultaneous caregiving while demanding an apology as “gaslighting.” She responded, “I did not intend to harm him; I simply demanded he apologize to the victims. Judging this as gaslighting stems from the prejudiced assumption that a typical sex crime victim would not make such a claim.” However, the situation worsened. On June 12, the second trial court ruled her guilty of both coercion and defamation with factual disclosure. I watched a video of a guy who moved back to Nigeria after 7 years in Canada. He came here for school. His dad di3d. He had no one to pay his fees. His siblings watched him drop out and struggle for 7 years without helping once. He tried everything to stay. The immigration process broke him. He said his first week back in Nigeria was the easiest his life had been in 7 years. We talk a lot about going abroad. We do not talk enough about the people it breaks along the way.

This year has been good so far in terms of research. I had reasons to feel bad, but when I counted a few of the wins, I realised I had every reason to strengthen my resolve. I have published three papers, written and submitted my first perspective review, written my first systematic review, and successfully submitted it to PROSPERO. I also completed my first scoping review in an emerging area, started a PhD in Medical-Surgical Nursing, received four acceptances so far, three of them in Scopus-indexed journals, and submitted seven papers to Scopus-indexed journals. I am also leading a viral immunology research team with a vaccine prospect, alongside an awesome student and other brilliant collaborators. These are some of the reasons I have not been very active here in the last two weeks. Alongside the academic demands, I have also had to deal with some personal and family health challenges. The body forced me to slow down, and honestly, it is refusing to boot as fast I would like. Sometimes, the review and publication process can be quite tedious, but we keep moving.
