The @demishassabis film The Thinking Game is brilliant, has already been watched 160m times - and is probably the best advert for the UK’s centrality to the future of high level globally important research and therefore for the world economy… from AI itself to its applications in every corner of frontier science… the film is a great introduction for any young people in your life to this frontier. Both a former PM and a current Cabinet minister told me, separately, that Demis’ insistence on staying in the UK as a condition of Deepmind sale amid attempts from Musk, Google & others to move him and it over to Silicon Valley has been of critical importance to the UK… I asked a number of related questions when I visited Google HQ including inside DeepMind’s US HQ last month including a visit to its academic library below… will tweet out some of the details you may have missed from that in the next few days, in the mean time, very much worth watching the film… perhaps even more than Elf! On the 6th October 2023 I shared a link on X to a Mail Online article entitled ‘Militant union leader at the heart of doctors strikes is a Labour activist who boasted of charging the NHS for a strike cover shift. I accept that my words were misleading as the subject in question Dr Tom Dolphin was not on strike on the date of the shift in question but was simply covering a shift as a consultant for junior doctors who were on strike on 11th August 2023. I would like to offer my sincerest apologies to Dr Dolphin for any distress upset caused. I will also like to add that I understand that Dr Dolphin actually donated his pay for the covered shift which I believe was £1870 to the BMA strike fund and whilst I do not agree with the strikes I want to go on the record to say that I think it is a very unselfish act on the part of Dr Dolphin to put his money into something he strongly believes in. I will make the same contribution to compensate the upset I may have caused Dr Dolphin. Please Repost.

First of all a big congratulations to @afcbournemouth on promotion but tonight I need to thank the paramedics at the game. Unfortunately my dad suffered a cardiac arrest just before the game and they managed to bring him back to life. I’ll forever be grateful for their actions ❤️
