I’ve been watching baseball for 50+ years. That is, without question, the dumbest, most bullshit call in the history of organized baseball. The umpires involved in that call should be fired before the end of the game. But, of course, Boog defends it ….. 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄#cubs

@AjBrault it’s a dumb rule, but it’s because he came off the base on the slide and was tagged. because he technically came off the bag, he was essentially stealing third, and was tagged out on the next play. again dumb rule, but that would appear to be the official rule/explaination.

How do mlb umpires not know the rules? Am I missing something?

@chichicjtc @MLB it was the cubs who challenged, i believe. could be wrong … but i thought they said that it was Counsell who challenged. so they must have told him that was the official call.

@Kraft4Prez @MLB @MLBUA @Cubs yeah this doesn’t make sense. he’s sliding into the base, so on ball four he can wonder around and not touch the base until he’s ready too? why isn’t the play ruled dead on ball four.

Embarrassing replay call in Mets-Cubs game. No one has ever been thrown out stealing second on ball four…until now. I don’t blame the umps on the field, who got the call right, but the whole thing was ridiculous and dumb.

@clayharbs82 the personal fouls need to go to review. between the roughing the passer calls, dpi/pi penalties, it’s too weighty of a penalty to be left to “ref discretion” … i do not understand it.
