@loveonamixtape The beach still wins for me because it's more exotic, from growing up in the NC mountains. My car's odometer says I love the mountains too; just got back from our third trip this year.

So the whole "hanging out on a beach for literal hours" culture was actually never part of my experience growing up on the coast. I want water and ocean near me for atmosphere, but when it comes to recreation? Yeah, surprisingly, gotta give it to mountains.

"beach or mountains?" is a question I've heard a bunch since living in VA, and I LOVE it, because it demonstrates a widespread appreciation of the outdoors and particular geography here, and is a similar California conundrum (though on a different scale.)

I have to write a library document, max 700 words. Lincoln's second inaugural address is 701 words and sums up the meaning of the Civil War, slavery, and the whole American experiment. It's hard to justify needing more words than Lincoln, but i do.
