@GeronimoMorgans Great analysis. One key factor for me that could at least address some of those issues: a real leader on the pitch which is totally lacking when we are pressured. Where is a Vinny/Ferna/Zaba these days?

That stat tells you everything you need to know and it’s damning. 78% of our goals conceded (18/23) coming in the second half. It’s a pattern. A structural problem and physical issue rolled into one. What does it tell you? Game control collapses after the break. We don’t manage moments. We don’t slow games down. We stop imposing ourselves. Intensity drops off a cliff. Pressing becomes half-hearted, distances grow, duels are lost, second balls go uncontested. Physical levels aren’t holding. Whether it’s conditioning, load, or over-reliance on certain players, we look leggy far too often. Concentration lapses. Simple decisions become complicated. Basics: positioning, tracking runners, winning duels go missing. When momentum turns, there’s no grip on the game, no one grabbing it by the throat. Why do we look tired? Because we’re chasing games emotionally instead of managing them tactically. Why do we look flat? Because control without intensity is fake control. Why do we suddenly look like we can’t do the basics? Because fatigue exposes habits and bad habits get punished. This isn’t acceptable at this level. Not for this club. Not with these players. Until the second-half issue is fixed, everything else is noise.

@Londonblue_2 Agree that what Pep achieved was sublime, but only dealing in the past tense is not how to build a team. The tactics tonight and in the derby game were beyond stupidity.

Some want Pep gone because he finished third and lost a final and is currently second and in every competition. I don’t think these guys know what the post Pep era is going to feel like. What Pep delivered is not normal and no new manager is gonna waltz in and replicate it.

@RealTolmie 600m given to that badly but blame players. Its not the players who are trying to play high line with inexperienced players. Its not players that are doing side to side. Its pep. He plays every game same way no matter who the players are or team is. Thats why we are fucked.

And if Pep really is tired and running out of ideas, I would prefer to know now and box off Xabi Alonso. I don't blame Pep, many of these current players can't meet his high demands and never will.

Reijnders was a terrible signing in terms of what we needed. We needed a midfielder who was great OOP and has a great engine, instead, we signed another second striker.

No amount of motivation will fix this. No speech, no rallying cry, no talk of courage is saving this side. We are miles away from our usual standards, miles away from what a typical City team looks like at its best. It’s time to face an ugly truth: this is not a squad capable of winning the Premier League this season. I’ve accepted that today. Yes, it’s good that we’ve signed Guehi. We desperately needed another leader. And Max Alleyne has been brilliant, but he’s still young, still learning, and these are monumental games that demand experience as much as talent. Accept the reality. Lower the expectations.
