@PascoFearon @educationgovuk The trouble is, the govt will likely feel raising fees to the level needed is politically impossible, in which case what to do? Different fee levels? Fewer universities? Raise taxes? No easy solutions!

the amount of misunderstanding/misrepresentation in this piece by @soniasodha is quite something, a 🧵 1) "universities flex their muscles" no - many universities being on the verge of going bust is not a flex. No context of inflationary erosion of tuition fee income since 2012
