At the request of many, the City has begun to remove all American flags from sports arenas and locations along Lake Ontario,including the pier at Snug Harbour in Port Credit. Oversized Canadian flags (15’x30’) are ordered and will be installed on all the poles at City Hall.

@iggy_902 @HRMFireNews This is not meant to downplay the importance of addressing the safety violations, but is important context. HRFE, many other depts, and other non fire gov orgs (HRP etc) have used the school for training.

@iggy_902 @HRMFireNews Important to note that the HRFE training grounds (at stn 7) and the NS Fire School are separate/unaffiliated facilities. The former is where majority of HRFEs recruit and extended training takes place. The latter is used only on occasion.

I personally do not see how there is any defence for ongoing safety violations at the NSFS more than five years post-incident. The NSFS commented on the CBC article earlier. I would like to see some questions asked of the NSFS board of directors, which includes the Provincial Fire Marshall and the Chief of HRFE.

Lazar Đukić, a renowned Serbian CrossFit athlete, is tragically presumed to have passed away at the 2024 CrossFit Games after disappearing under the water approximately 100 meters from the finish line. Witnesses reported that he appeared to be struggling during the swimming portion of the event. Emergency personnel, including divers, were promptly dispatched to search the lake. It was later confirmed by the CrossFit Games that an unnamed athlete had lost their life in the first event.
