On the second day of the DadaHub residency, @LilianNwamaife asked one question that shifted how everyone in the room thinks about building: "Are you solving a problem that actually exists?" Paystack didn't guess that African businesses struggled to accept payments. They researched it. Then they built the simplest possible fix. Mpesa didn't assume the unbanked needed a slick app. They built SMS-based transfers that work on any phone, with no internet. Lesson: the best African fintech solutions start with constraints, not features. During this session: → Conducted their own user interviews → Defined one high-priority problem to solve → Sketched their first wireframes — 5 mobile screens or 6 web sections Mobile-first. Offline-ready. Built for real people. #DadaHubResidency #DadaDevs #AfricanFintech #MobileFirst #ProductDesign #WomenInTech #BitcoinDesign

Week 1 is a wrap. 🎉 A room full of developers walked in. Designers walked out. In three days, participants went from user interviews to wireframes to production-ready Figma components — all grounded in a deep understanding of who they're building for and why it matters. But this is just the beginning. Next up: Bitcoin & Lightning. Then AI. And after all of that — participants will pitch themselves and their ideas to the world. The builders are warming up. Stay close. 👀 #DadaDevs #BuildForAfrica #Bitcoin #Lightning #AI #WomenInTech #AfricanTech

On the third day of the DadaHub residency, @a_Iyanu_ dropped this: "When users download a financial app, they're betting their money will be safe." Design has to earn that bet. Building Bitcoin apps for African users means understanding: 1. Light grey on white is invisible in bright sunlight. Contrast = usability. 2. A green confirm button that turns into a cancel button on the next screen will cost users their money. Consistency = safety. 3. Balance display goes first. Bold. In local currency. Always. 4. Offline-first isn't optional. Cache transactions. Queue sends. Never block a user who has no signal. 5. Minimum 16px font. No playful typefaces. This is someone's savings. Participants also built their first Figma Auto Layout component — a production-ready transaction card — guided live by @a_Iyanu_ and @_Musanga Three days. Four trainers. Real builders.

Introducing the Dada Hub Residency program for female developers! There’s a version of you that has already started thinking about what comes next. Not just in your career — but in the technology itself. Where #Bitcoin stops being a store of value and becomes infrastructure. Where AI stops being a product and becomes a collaborator. And more importantly, where those two meet, and what gets built there. DadaHub is where that thinking becomes real work. The Residency is four weeks of in-person execution. You will: - design real-world solutions - integrate Bitcoin or Lightning - build AI-powered features and ship a live MVP Along the way, you contribute to open source and gain the kind of clarity that only comes from shipping. This isn’t for everyone. It’s for the builder who is ready to stop observing the shift — and start building inside it. 📍 Nairobi (In-person) 📅 April 9 – May 2, 2026 (select dates) Apply: forms.gle/LcS9coQbBnVu1n… Limited slots. Selection-based. Commitment fee Kes 2000 ($16) Note: This is strictly for female developers.

📚 Today’s edition of Readers’ Friday Book Club was a great one. We’re still exploring The Fiat Standard by @saifedean Ammous, and it continues to be an eye-opener for our community. Together, we’re unpacking how the fiat system is designed and asking the big question: is the monetary system broken — or working exactly as intended? Same time next week. Don’t miss it. ⚡

Over the weekend, the Dada Hub space hosted members of the Bitcoin Dada community for a practical session on peer-to-peer Bitcoin trading using @vexl. The focus was simple: hands-on learning, open discussion, and a chance for participants to explore how these tools work in practice. Dada Hub exists to support exactly this kind of engagement. It is a dedicated environment where communities working around Bitcoin, technology, and digital innovation can come together to learn, exchange ideas, and collaborate in a setting designed for focused work. As the hub continues to grow, we are looking to connect with organizations, collectives, and partners who are interested in using the space for workshops, learning sessions, and collaborative initiatives. If your community is exploring meaningful work in this space, we welcome the opportunity to collaborate. 📩 hello@dadahub.org #DadaHub #BitcoinDada #Vexl #BitcoinCommunity #Collaboration

Led by our Operations Manager @wandiology with technical support from our Lead Developer @junearsenic7, participants experienced Bitcoin as it was originally intended to function — directly between people, secured by trust, and free from institutional intermediaries. Observing value move seamlessly between devices within the same room turned abstract concepts into lived experience and reinforced the power of peer-to-peer infrastructure. We remain grateful to our visionary leadership @marcelorraine for consistently serving as a bridge between global Bitcoin innovation and local communities, ensuring that access, education, and opportunity continue to expand across the ecosystem

Nearly half of Africa’s STEM graduates are women. Yet their presence drops sharply in the technology workforce. Women occupy roughly a quarter of technical roles across the continent, and even fewer are in positions where engineering direction and product architecture are shaped. The issue has never been capability. The challenge has been access to the spaces where technical skills are refined, ideas are tested, and real systems are built. That is why Dada Devs exists. Within this community, women are committing to the technical side of emerging technologies. They study Bitcoin at the protocol level, strengthen their engineering foundations, and engage in research and development around the systems shaping the future of open digital infrastructure. With March recognized globally as a month to celebrate women, we are proud to spotlight some of the engineers (@junearsenic7, @KalukiTiiime and @NNakhero ) at Dada Devs. Developers building the technical depth required to contribute to Bitcoin and the broader frontier of decentralized and intelligent systems. The future of technology will be written by builders, and these women are part of that story. #IWD #DadaDevs #BitcoinDada #WomenInTech #BitcoinDevelopers

BIG ANNOUNCEMENT!!!🎉🥁 For a long time, Dada Hub has lived in strategy documents, late-night planning calls, and the collective imagination of a community that believes Africa deserves Bitcoin-native infrastructure built with intention. Today, we are proud to announce the space is secured!! The setup is underway. What we are building is not simply a venue, but an operational backbone for Bitcoin-native talent, product thinking, and ecosystem execution. As our programs have expanded and the depth of builders emerging from Bitcoin Dada & @DadaDevs has increased, it became clear that we needed infrastructure that supports serious work, not just community gathering. The Hub is designed as an applied Bitcoin lab — a controlled environment where capital, talent, and technical thinking can converge. Rather than merely hosting sessions, it enables sustained engagement, disciplined experimentation, and ecosystem-grade execution. It is about creating the physical layer that supports long-term market participation, not just short-term programming. This is an intentional step toward sustainability and stronger ecosystem integration. We are thinking long-term: about talent pipelines, about institutional collaboration, and about how to make KENYA an undeniable node within the global #Bitcoin network. More details about the official launch will be shared soon. For partners, builders, and aligned institutions who understand that infrastructure precedes impact, you already know what this means. We are building with permanence in mind! 1/2
