@GuyTalksFinance Here’s my thought— I put extra into HY CD/savings, but not only for the interest rates. That savings can buy me some time if I ever come upon financial hardship. If I were paying down the mortgage with that money, I wouldn’t have that extra cushion.

Most home owners have a mortgage rate between 3% - 5% Currently HYSA are yielding about 5% or under depending on the bank or savings account. I think the best strategy would be to save extra money in a HYSA to collect interest Then at the end of the year make an extra large mortgage payment. Do you agree with this strategy?
