As someone that’s been sober for 7 years next month with previous stints before, it’s this rhetoric below that leads people back to drinking. “It will be different this time” “I will be able to moderate” “I will just drink expensive wine” “I will only drink on a Friday” “I won’t drink alone” “I’m happy now I won’t spiral” Alcohol is exhausting. Addiction is gruelling. It nearly destroyed my life and it’s taken countless people from me that should still be here. Why? Because they tried to negotiate with addiction. These articles distort recovery, sobriety and position it as effortless. I can tell you this for a fact, many people will read this and break their sobriety now. Recovery should never be clickbait.

The IOPC (Independent office for police conduct) has responded to me and opened a case to investigate police misconduct in stealing my SD cards.
The same organization is in charge of investigating the police involved in Henry Nowak's case. The IOPC made a statement recently in which they state, "The officers involved are currently being treated as witnesses, however as with all investigations, this is kept under review throughout."
In another statement released by them on June 3rd it seems as though they are encouraging people to STOP talking about two tier policing or the case by stating:
“We are acutely aware of the public interest in this case. We would respectfully ask people to stop speculating on an ongoing live investigation. This investigation is going to fully establish the circumstances of the case including whether there may be misconduct on the part of any of the officers involved. The ongoing commentary about the evidence and speculation risks prejudicing any potential processes and preventing Henry Nowak’s family getting the answers they deserve.”
In my opinion it seems strange for people to make the issue of whether of not there was police misconduct and not what is to be done about the obvious negligence.
