Janet Jackson has finally broken her silence on why she was not involved in the production process of her late brother Michael Jackson’s biopic or why she did not allow someone to portray her character in the film. This was her response when she was asked by an interviewer:
🎙️ Reporter: “Why were you not part of your late brother’s biopic movie, or why did you not allow your character to be portrayed in the film?”
🗣️ Janet Jackson: “I just find it absurd to be part of it because when my brother was still alive, the same people creating a biopic claiming to celebrate him were the same people who made his life miserable before he passed away in 2009. So why would I be part of that?”
🎙️ Reporter: “But your siblings and Michael’s children were involved in the movie. Did you speak to them about your decision or even advise them not to be part of it?”
🗣️ Janet Jackson: “I mean, everyone has their own decision to make, and I’m sure they were all aware of what Michael went through at the hands of these people who now claim to love him but still made decisions that affected him. I just felt they had their own reasons for being part of it, or maybe it was for monetary reason, because I personally didn’t see any reason why they should have allowed it. That’s why I support Paris’ decision not to be part of this so-called biopic that claims to honor my brother.”
