Overwhelmed TSA agents are missing their paychecks, relying on food donations, and forced to consider more stable work. All of this results from Senate Democrats refusing to abandon their strategy of weaponizing shutdowns and turning a blind eye to the fallout it creates.

While the House passed the FY26 Homeland Security bill for the second time yesterday, only 4 Democrats joined us in the effort to end the shutdown. Its fate now rests in the Senate, and I urge our colleagues in the chamber next door to vote YES. Enough is enough. Congress must take its responsibility to fully fund the agencies that keep Americans safe seriously and end the DHS shutdown today.

As our nation celebrates its 250th anniversary and prepares to host the FIFA World Cup and the 2028 Olympics, security cannot take a back seat. The Secret Service should be focused on strengthening its preparations to ensure the safety of every attendee, but the current shutdown undercuts its ability to do that work effectively.

Some facts about important things: Democrats have kept DHS shut down for 19 days. This is shutdown number 3 in the last 100 days. 120,000 DHS employees are working without pay. The last Democrat shutdown cost $15 BILLION per week. Consequences and costs mount everyday.

Day 6 of the third Democrat-orchestrated shutdown in under a year. Schumer is more interested in governing through shutdowns than leading through solutions. Meanwhile, the men and women who keep America safe are working without pay as the backlog of core national security work mounts by the day.

If you oppose ICE or Border Patrol, that’s your prerogative, but DHS funds far more than immigration enforcement. Shutting it down puts core national security functions at risk and does nothing to impact interior immigration enforcement. The consequences fall elsewhere.
