If you had to pick 10 scientists to define the future of astronaut health, who would you choose? We’re assembling the next BioAstra PI cohort for our 2026 summer research program. Looking for PhD/professor-level scientists building the future of space biology and human performance beyond Earth. Nominate someone exceptional in the replies or DM.

I have to wonder, why would a person with this view of humans care if humans explore the cosmos, make settlements outside of earth or "expand the light of consciousness"? Its just slop. Wouldn't sending some GPU's with a local LLM be better?

@NASAStennis Intentional LOX/methane bulkhead rupture just to 'measure how big the boom is'. This is the kind of testing that gives me nightmares. The awesome kind.

Flash. Fireball. Shockwave. 💥 This is how NASA is collecting data for next generation rockets. During a controlled detonation last month at Eglin Air Force Base in Florida, synchronized cameras captured the blast in striking detail. ‘PROJECT HAIL MARY’ has become the first ever film to premiere in the stratosphere. A bespoke IMAX display was sent into space to showcase footage from the film, played against the curvature of the planet itself at 110,000 ft altitude.

Telesat Optimizes Lightspeed Constellation with Dedicated Military Ka-Band Spectrum On Tuesday, March 17, 2026, Telesat (Nasdaq and TSX: TSAT) announced a major strategic update to its Lightspeed Low Earth Orbit (LEO) constellation, adding 500 MHz of military Ka-band (Mil-Ka) spectrum to its initial 156 satellites. The decision, revealed during the company's Q4 2025 earnings call, targets the surging demand from NATO and allied defense departments for secure, sovereign, and interoperable communications. #MissionsConstellations #SmallSat satnews.com/2026/03/18/tel…

Vast is developing Control Moment Gyroscopes (CMGs) in-house to provide attitude control for Haven-1 and future stations. Our CMGs are air-cooled; we will test the cooling ducts in our full-scale life support testing module to verify nominal temperatures are maintained.

EXPAND is the world's only database containing human health and performance, and molecular (Omics) data from multiple commercial astronaut orbital space missions (executed by SpaceX and Axiom). A uniquely integrated, synchronized, and harmonized dataset that is being made available freely to researchers to query for new hypotheses about human health and performance in spaceflight. Data requests will be evaluated based on the unique hypotheses and relevance to reducing top concerns for human health and performance on long-duration space missions. blogs.bcm.edu/2026/03/17/fro…

🌕🚀 Extended Lunar EVA Performance. Real Missions. Real Demands. Real Integration. For future planetary campaigns, we must ground the conversation in operational reality. The second half of Day 1 at SHOP-26 does exactly that — led by the actual scientists and practitioners doing this work every day. SHOP is invested in bringing real, relevant conversations to the table, connecting mission design, fitness standards, cognitive expectations, human system loading, and suit integration into one shared framework. 🗓 April 29 – May 1, 2026 📍 Space Center Houston | Houston, Texas This first afternoon of EVA Performance topics is organized by Dan Buckland, MD, bringing together a deliberately integrated group of domain leads:  • Nicole Strock, PhD, MS — Senior Human Performance Scientist, KBR – NASA • Danielle Anderson DPT, DSc — Musculoskeletal Medicine and Rehabilitation Lead, Space Medicine Operations, United States Air Force • Morgan Stosic, PhD — Research Psychologist, KBR – NASA • Patrick estep — Human Performance Engineer, GeoControl Systems – NASA Expect mission context. Expect operational realism. Expect integration across the aspects of the human performance spectrum. And yes… there may be first person POV simulated planetary EVA traverses on a GIANT screen at Space Center Houston. 🌑👨‍🚀 KBR, Inc.
