#Algorand Wallet Drains 2024-03-25 TL;DR: Strong indications that this is an old compromise. Some addresses are being drained. There is a very significant overlap with addresses suspected compromised in myAlgo, looks like they are active again to move previously compromised funds. Drainer account: EZZBMN6SZILR63C5LHKBMZAWUF2AUEEMPRYTMY5QJA7DYLYJRMXLG7PBGA I checked 1,345 of the accounts that moved funds today against a partial database of addresses suspected compromised in the @myalgo_ hack. 518 of those (38.5%) overlapped (high confidence that they were compromised then.) That is significant enough already, but to get more confidence behind this theory I pulled the timestamps of rekey transactions of all 1,345 addresses. Both groups of addresses were rekeyed in March and April 2023 in very tight clusters (every two rounds in some cases; in attached images: red = previously IDed, white = new) Based on the address overlap and the timings of their rekey transactions, I am lead to believe that this is not a new compromise, but a reactivation to drain previously compromised accounts. That said, rekeying every now and again is a good idea, as it resets the possible-compromise-horizon. So if this makes you stressed, rekey your important accounts. Remember not to store seeds digitally (except maybe password manager), but also not to lose the new seed phrase. My data is here: docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d…
