Willam Nicol Switching Station: The team has isolated Mini-substation 03985. Three terminations and three joints need to be done before supply can be restored. As a result, two load centres will remain off until repairs are completed.

We are receiving a high volume of calls affecting areas both north and south of Roodepoort. Some of these areas include Wilgeheuwel, Wilropark, Wilropark Ext 2, Roodepoort, Lindhaven, Florida Hills, Florida Ext, Florida, Floracliffe, Weltevredenpark Ext 1, Honeydew Manor, Harveston, Little Falls and surrounding areas.
Please note that operators will investigate to determine and group the outages under the source of supply if these are found to be separate outages.
We are aware that some areas lost supply before the widespread outage following the torrential downpour yesterday and some areas did not restore when the Roodetown and surrounding substations were restored earlier today.

This decisive action forms part of the City’s broader strategy to improve revenue collection, safeguard financial sustainability, and ensure the continued delivery of essential services to residents.
The campaign includes the large-scale disconnection of municipal services to defaulting government institutions that have persistently failed to honour their financial obligations. These measures follow extensive and sustained efforts by the City to resolve the outstanding debt through established intergovernmental relations frameworks, including formal engagements, negotiations, and structured payment arrangements.
Despite these attempts, a number of departments and entities have not complied with agreed payment terms, leaving the City with no alternative but to take firm corrective action. The City maintains that non-payment for services such as electricity, water, and sanitation undermines its ability to maintain infrastructure, deliver quality services, and meet its constitutional mandate to residents.

City Power is now restoring supply station by station to prevent overload. For now, the Manufacta Substation , Roodepoort Substation and Penny Street Switching Station are restored. Operators are busy working at the Kloofendaal Substation where they are preparing to restore supply.
Customers are reminded to avoid switching on electrical appliances for atleast 15 minutes to avoid incidents of inrush-current and overload when power is restored.

The team has successfully restored 78% of the power supply. Upon investigations conducted by the team, it was discovered that it tripped due to overload. The team is onsite closely monitoring the load before they can restore the remaining percentage.
In the interim, the team is sourcing material for repairs to commence. This outage continues to affect customers in Denver as well as possible surroundings.
Customers are hereby urged to switch off non-essential appliances to avoid in-rush current and network overload.
