They’re telling people “oh no the ammonia is gone” while in the same press release, there’s areas unexplored due to damage 🤷🏻‍♀️ Even if it is all gone, the damage is done. There’s still hazardous crap burning + tons of spoiling food. It’s a fkn disaster.

They’re telling people there’s no more AQI issues as everyone has headaches and sore throats and the Purple app (among others) indicate hazardous conditions. People are tired of being lied to by a govt more concerned w/ protecting corporations over people.

Nobody believes any official word regarding the industrial fire here bc A) it came too late and B) after the way the wildfires were handled, trust is totally lost and most critically C) this is all obvious ass-covering & legal consultant language, not actually helping

Is the whole city of LA smelling that ammonia poison cloud now from that industrial fire??!!! I’m sorry but wtaf. This is so dangerous. If we can smells it here I feel awful for those in East LA. (Also how many more signs do I need to go where I wanna go…)

Good luck when it comes to seeking justice too. I know all too well what it costs to take bad actors to court for causing harm. They count on you not affording it! Even if a class action occurs, the lawyers will keep the lions share. We have a segregated justice system as well.

It is a policy choice to allow serial polluters to harm racially diverse working class communities. This same company saw a similar cold storage facility burn to the ground in Seattle. The blaze smoldered for 10mos. Why do we allow these bad faith operators to get away with this?

Wanted to circle back to say if this happened in west LA it would be nationwide news. But such warehouses aren’t located in those communities. No it’s always the working poor that suffer from these disasters and it’s far more common than anyone realizes bc nobody is covering it.

@labruja04 100%. If this happened in West LA it would be nationwide news. My heart breaks for all those I know will get sick from this and frankly a lawsuit doesn’t feel sufficient bc at its core, this is a deeply ingrained societal and racial injustice.

@mkliebmann This has been going on for four days. Some of us, with our homes constantly covered in smoke day and night. Now that there are no big watch parties and games in LA, they decide to take it seriously. It's so disappointing and upsetting. Environmental racism at its finest 🙃

I attended a nice lunch party hosted by my friend here in West Hollywood and saw what a functional building looks like. Apart from that I just feel very depleted. All I can do is meditate, paint and turn to my writing until I can make the correct move for myself.

Only reason this is even a thing is bc I can’t live with my sister (who helps my dad) and my stepdad doesn’t want me to stay long term out east. They don’t seem to appreciate I don’t want any more sinus surprises before trial which can cause even more delays. Honestly ridiculous

A monthly rental for a room in my hometown 28min by train from Manhattan near my dad is the same price as a giant furnished rental in desirable neighborhoods within Boise. Don’t even ask about my mom’s area on the North Fork, that’s Wall St only. New York has lost the plot.
