I'd like to raise a concern about a potential sybil issue on @AbstractChain. If you are a long-time user/creator/investor/player and care about XP on the chain, this post is for you. We don't know what XP will be used for yet, but if there are going to be future rewards or perks, as a long-time user I wouldn't want XP to be distributed this easily - and neither should you. So what's actually happening: - After March 11, Abstract cut passive XP from holdings (NFTs, memecoins) to incentivize onchain participation. - The team started distributing XP to vote streakers. - At first this didn’t seem like a problem, but the chain now has ~40k wallets that only do vote streaks and literally nothing else. - This number has been growing exponentially, with 5k–10k XP per wallet, resulting in ~200M–400M weekly XP distribution (simply put, ~60% of all weekly XP goes to these accounts). - Sybils/bots have started taking advantage of this. - A massive number of Bronze accounts began moving together after March 18 (you can see this in the data below). - A small portion of those accounts reached Gold tier this week (around 6x the average number of new Gold users). - Gold tier will likely double its user count within a month or two if this continues. - I remember when even getting 10k XP or reaching Gold rank was considered premium - that is no longer the case. I understood and supported cutting passive XP from NFTs and memecoins. However, I don’t understand why this level of XP is being distributed to these sybil/bot accounts that provide zero real value to the network. Why was XP taken away from people who actually invested(via Apps, NFTs, Memecoins) in the network and started being given to these accounts? Tagging @0xCygaar for visibility.
